Astra Zeneca’s popular schizophrenia drug Seroquel has been linked with a high incidence of diabetes, hyperglycemia and other blood sugar disorders. Seroquel is in the class of drugs called atypical antipsychotics, which are a newer class of antipsychotics touted as having a lower incidence of blood sugar disorders than the older medications such as Haldol and Thorazine. Seroquel was approved by the FDA in 1997.Data from a study that was reported at a conference of the International Society for Pharmacoepidemiology in Philadelphia August 23 and 24, 2003 showed that patients on Seroquel had 3.34 times as many cases of diabetes as those on older antipsychotic drugs. The study of 19,878 U.S. military veterans between October 1998 and October 2001 indicated that Seroquel and other members of the new class of anti-psychotic drugs posed a higher risk of diabetes. The effect was most pronounced with Seroquel.

Pregnant and taking seroquel
Does anybody have any information about trying to get pregnant and taking seroquel (Pros / Cons_?

I have discovered that i could not concieve a child while taking this medication but soon after stopping the meds I am now pregnant with one child roughly 2 1/2 months along but as long as I was taking the medication for the last 1 1/2 years I could not concieve a child I honestly believe that it was Seroquel that caused me to produce infertile eggs If trying to concieve then stop taking the meds give it a couple months and see what happens
