GM air bag recall after my auto accident

I had an single car auto accident last year which I sustained injuries and still have minor pains. The vehicle was a GM 2000 Silverado Pickup Truck. The air bag never deployed even though the vehicle was a total loss. I recently found out GM is recalling these vehicles because the airbags are defective. Is there any case against GM here in your opinion??

Re: GM air bag recall after my auto accident

Recalls from manufacturers pertain to a certain number of vehicles, not all of the particular model.  I work for an insurance company and deal with total losses every day.  I can tell you that we see GM/Ford/Chrysler and many reps from different manufacturers from time to time coming to look at wrecked vehicles to invesigate why airbags did not deploy.  In all the training that I have had, front airbags generally are set to deploy if the sensor is directly hit.  The standards for an airbag to deploy was if the accident occured at over 30 miles per hour, and the direct hit was with 35 degrees of the centerline of the vehicle.  So you see, rollovers, for instant may not cause the airbag to deploy, or for that matter, side impacts.  Today we see vehicles with airbag curains, side airbags and so forth.  GM could have came to inspect your vehicle to address your concern.  Checking the vin mumber with a GM dealer could tell you whether that recall pertained to the truck you had.
