My Dr. has been giving me seroquel for approximately 6 months to help me sleep at night. I loved it, it would put me out in less than an hour, and I slept very well. I thought it was a sleeping pill. I did not know what it was for untill Parker & Waichman sent me an updated email on it. Thank you Parker & Waichman! Diabetes runs in my family also. I had two uncles die from it. I haven't been back to the Dr. since I recieved the information on this drug, and can't understand why the Dr. gave me this type of medicine for sleep. ![]()
My mom was placed on Ativan for anxiety about 10 years ago. It seemed to do an OK job, but when she changed doctors due to a residence area move the doctor added Prozac. We trusted he knew what he was doing in hind sight I think it made her anxiety and nervousness worse. She developed may other symptoms which I now question may be related to the Prozac. After 4 hospital admissions this year for anxiety driven medical admissions. I pleaded for an in house evaluation and for my mom to be taken off Prozac. The doctor placed her on Seroquel for anxiety. She stopped taking it after two weeks because it made her feel very tired, her thinking felt delayed, she felt nauseated all the time and vomited. She has esophageal achalsia, so vomiting is dangerous to her long term health. She is not taking either drug and feels terrific for a 81 year old woman. I don't think she would have developed DM in 2 weeks, but why did the doctor not tell us about all the drugs SE?
I took seroquel for over 1 1/2 years The side affects never stop they continue with you to well after you stop the meds You will feel distant tired its like you cant wake up the next morning and when you do its much to late to start an early morning project cause its in the afternoon My doctor is and idiot i knew that finally this year he quit the agency he was working for because of too many complaints like mine he had me up to 400mg daily i cant even focus on 50mg let alone 400 I quit taking it an i feel i made the right decision in a matter that deals with my life ![]()
I have a great book that will give you all the insights on antidepressants. Antidepressants are our world's nightmare! Below is my Mom's story.
1-800-280-0730
I have taken anti-depressants for 15 years. I have been on Deseryl, Paxil, Prozac, Zoloft, Wellbutrin, and finally Effixor. I met the author of "Prozac, Pandora, or Panacea?" Dr. Ann Blake Tracy, from Utah. I HIGHLY recommend this book to anyone on anti-depressants. It is like my bible!
I am in my third month of withdrawal from Effixor. I am on 150 MG. I opened up one of the capsules and it had 360 white crystals inside. The first month I took out 10 crystals all at once and I did pretty good. The second month I took out 10 more and It was a difficult month. I was very angry and agitated. The first week of the third month I took out only 2 more bringing the total to 22. So I am doing better by taking out only 2 more per week. It will take me about 2 years to get off of these "PILLS from HELL" Because of these anti-depressants I am now a diabetic, unable to sleep, have chronic fatigue syndrome, memory loss, no feelings except angry ones and the list goes on and on. Most beneficial in helping me to deal with depression is EXERCISING, EATING HEALTHY, TAKING DEEP BREATHS frequently throughout the day to help relieve stress and tension, and drinking alot of Chamomille Herb Tea.
Dr. Tracy and her book have saved my life!!! I was also introduced to RELIV--a powdered vitamin supplement that has also saved my life and I will take it for the rest of my life. If I can be of any help or support to anyone out there on anti-depressants please drop me an e-mail @nutz4swa@cox.net. I have made up my mind that I AM going to WIN this battle and so can you!!!!!!!

I have been taking, all at once, Paxil, Wellbutrin, Topomax, Seroquel. I have had it with it all. I quit Topomax. I quit Paxil recently. I have about 3 more days to go on Wellbrutin and thenn i will start on the Seroquel. I was taking Resperdone but the Dr. changed me. Why,I do not know. Because I was hullicanating and hearing things, they thought I was off the wall. However, at the same time I was taking all the above, you can add Zanax, 1 mg, 4 times a day. Thats alot. I decided to come off Zanax, which I did and boy am I glad. It was very hard. The shrink at the hospital where I went when I was hullicating, said he thought I was having medication episode...ie. coming off Zanax and taking new medication. However, my shrink I see on the outside, prescribed me this Seroquel. I have been tired ever since.. It seems all I want to do is sleep until about 12:oo noon. I am up for 3 hours and fade out again. It is really bad. On top of that, I have developed extreme disiness which is getting worse. It fades on and off and besides being aware of it mentally, I feel these waves of pressure in my head physically, like waves of pressurized fog. What all this means is a question to me. Could it be a combination of coming off all these meds? Why I am on Seroquel, I don't know, but this disiness sympton is irriating me to no end. Any suggestions anyone?
Oh, honey! Do you have it in for your health with all those medications you are on. That is good that you have been able to come off of them, BUT what process have you taken when withdrawaling from them. You can't quit them cold turkey or in a matter of weeks. IT TAKES TIME, TIME!! OR you will have hallucinations, headaches, pain and the list could goes on forever. I have a call you have got to listen to that will be of the best information you have ever received, WHAT THESE DRUGS ARE DOING DO YOU MENTALLY AND PHYSICALLY. HOW THE SERONTONIN LEVELS AFFECT YOU. E-mail me at quinn_essence@hotmail.com and I will get on the call with you. It is on Wednesday 8pm (MST) and Friday at 10:30am (MST) Get the book that I have recommend in my e-mail by Dr. Ann Tracy. Check out the drugawareness.org website. Look forward to hearing from you. Quinn Mitchell
