My husband has been taking this medicine for almost a year now. Recently my sister-in-law told him she read somewhere that Geodon was causing diabetic comas. Does anyone know anything about this? I have been searching for the past couple of days for any articles on it, but haven't found any. My husband has never been tested for diabetis, but it runs on both sides of his family. I asked my pharmacists about it and she said all she had heard is that if you have diabetis, then it can cause problems with your sugar levels. If anyone can tell me where I can read about this or if you have any information please let me know. I would hate for something bad to happen to my husband when we just got everything going good with this medicine.

Hi There!
I scroll around this site for both information and also to learn about all the hazards that are out there that I am not yet aware. Geodon or ziprasidone as it is also known was a drug that I was not familiar, so I looked it up. It is not yet on www.mentalhealth.com, so then I looked further and found it on a site www.nami.org All I can say is take a look. For the life of me I am trying to figure out if they are trying to people with mental health issues or kill them? The site looks to be reliable. Probably more reliable than doctors. God Help Us All. Hi,
I thought you might want to read the new report in diabetic care volume 27, number 2 February 2004 pages 596-601. I found it helpful since my mother is no Zyprexa and developed diabeties with in 9 months, i am reviewing alternatives to move her onto Geodon or Abilify which are new drugs but the article above looks like the risk is the lowest for diabeties with new 2 drugs Geodon or Abilify. Hope the article helps.
