Hello, I just started taking seroquel within the last 6 months or so and after reading up on it i'm wondering if i should continue. I am a diabetic (type 2) my shrink said she wasnt concerned about side effects and that very few do occur to most who take it...I have tried other antipsychotics and had bad reactions(thorazine and a few others)...so far seroquel is working good for me but i'm wondering if this will make my diabetes worse? I would rather be crazy feeling and hear voices than have to switch to insulin. Any ideas?
HI, I thought you might want to read a new article with the american diabetes assocation with Diabetic Care , Volume 27, Number 2, February 2004, pg 597 -600. It discusses consensus development conference on antipsychotic drugs and obesity and diabetes. I thought it was helpful due to my mother is on Zyprexa and developed diabetes in 8 months of taking the drug. I am looking at the study to help me evaluate the potential of using Geodon or Abilify due to the positive results that these tow had no effect for risk for diabetes. Hope you can find the article.
