Ford Focus airbag deployment

My son was injured tonight when his airbag deployed inadvertently as he was driving down the road. He suffered some minor burns on his wrists, his car is in pretty bad shape, the airbag broke the windshield.

I understand that there were investigations by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration into this type of airbag deployment on 2000 models of the Ford Focus. Does anyone know what my next step would be to

1. Get Ford to pay for the repair to his car
2. Pay for lost wages (he is a driver)
3. Pay for his injuries

Any advise would be appreciated.
