Neurontin, which is known generically as Gabapentin, may be linked to suicide and suicide attempts. Neurontin is prescribed for epilepsy but has been prescribed for numerous off label uses. Neurontin was approved for sale in the mid-1990s as a treatment for epileptic seizures. However, it is believed that approximately 80 percent of all Neurontin prescriptions were filled for unapproved medical conditions.

If you or a loved one was injured by Neurontin, please complete the free case inquiry form on the right side of this page.

Re: neurontin

There's nothing wrong with Neurontin, you have no basis to sue the manufacturers.  Hell, youre even still taking it.  Sue your doctor if you want quick cash.

Re: neurontin

i was prescribed neurontin for my intercostal neuraglia.  I have found that there is one side effect that is NOT listed.  this drug will cause a LOW BLOOD SUGAR ATTACK, in anyone who has diabetis or hypoglcemia.  I contacted the manufacturer of this drug, and they said it will cause the low blood sugar attack.  I asked why it was not on the list of side effects.  They could not tell me.

Re: neurontin

Help my doctor gave me neurontin and I had to take one the first week, then two the next week and three a day after that.  There is no way I can take three a day and go to work, I wake up feeling drunk and grogy.  I can take three on days I don't work, and two maybe on days I do.  How long do these side effects last.  I can't work feeling drunk let alone drive. I get out of bed and stagger around in the morning, I don't like feeling this way.  I get to where I feel like I'm disconnected to my body.  I feel dizzy and can't think straight.  The nurse said I would have to build up a tolerance to it.  I don't know what to do.  I can't function like this, I start to feel better then it's time for the next dose.  What can I do. HELP sad

Re: neurontin

A doctor prescribed neurotin for me and so I filled it. (Dx: Cervical radiculopthy/neuropathy?) I took the first dose and about an hour and a half later I found myself in the middle of a mall, wondering around, unable to even figure out what was wrong or who I was!  Finally got someone to call my son, who came to get me and I hardly could walk I felt so "out of it"-dizzy, with a very "heavy" feeling all over my body!  Plus I was so confused!  This was in February 2003 and I was never told anything about the drug, except that it would help me with the pain!!
Are there individual suits currently or class action suits that are going on?  I would like to know also if the pharmacutical company was allowing it to be prescribed for pain as I had at the time of my awful reaction to this drug?  Thanks!!

Re: neurontin

My daughter was taking this drug a few years ago. She was Diagnosed with Epilepsy at a very early age. She went to a specialist after a long history of inappropriate behavior. He did a study on her and took her off all of her meds. This was back in 1998. She was only 7 at the time and was barking and unable to pay attention in school. She would often say to me "maybe you would be better off if I wasn't in this world". She would do things totally uncharacteristic of a 7 year old or even younger. She never had the ability to even ride a bike until after she was taken off the meds. She is a very active and bright 11 year old now. Sometimes I still see residual affects of the meds. These are believed to be behaviors that would change, now we believe because they were learned so early they will possibly never change. I personally do not want my daughter to be a part of this lawsuit. However, if my daughters dilema can help another person or child, then her pain was not sffered without a reason.
I am not for or against any lawsuit of this type. I just feel that this is one way of getting companies to take a look at what they are offering, with better glasses then they would use if we just let this pass.
Did my daughter ever speak of death yes. Were they suicidal thoughts, I doubt it! Are they cause of a drug, that is not for me to say! However using people as testers has got to stop. My daughter and the millions of others who were offered this "miracle drug" should not suffer the pain and suffering they have, just so some big headed pharmacist wants to get rich.

Re: neurontin

Anyone else that was prescibed neurontin for bi polar disorder?  I took it for around 2 years for bi polar.  I kept telling them i didnt want to take it because even when i asked the doctors how it worked they said they didnt know.  They kept persuading me to take though it as well as did my parents  so I went ahead and took it anyways.  They told me the hazy feeling I got from taking it was a side effect of the drug working.  But I told them I didnt experience any noticable improvement and during that time i nearly commited suicide and dropped out of my college classes.  You can imagine how miffed I was when i found out the drug was BS as I had suspected all along.  When your bi polar its hard to tell if a drug is causing difficulties in your life and this was one of the worst peroids in my life so i dont know if its the drugs fault or not.  It was the only time I attempted to commit suicide but i thought it was jsut becasue I was very depressed at the time.  I definelty had side effects with this drug nd it seems too much of a coicidence that  my mental state got so much worse during the peroid i was on this medication.

Re: neurontin

HEY ANGELNETTIE..HOW MANY MG WERE YOU PRESCRIBED??? YOU WERE TAKING IT 3X DAILY?

TO ALL: I HAVE BEED PRESCRIBED 3600 MG DAILY, I TAKE 1200 3X'S A DAY. WHAT SIDE AFFECTS WOULD I EXPERIENCE. I HAVE A HISTORY OF CUTTING MYSELF BUT USUALLY SOMETHING PRECIPITATED IT, HOWEVER, I HAVE REPEATEDLY CUT MYSELF FOR REALLY NO REASON, IT IS LIKE I FLIPPED OUT, PANICKING...ANYWHO, IT WAS A BAD SCENE. I RARELY GET OUT OF THE HOUSE, STILL DEPRESSED LIKE HELL, FOGGY AND TIRED. YA KNOW, ITS HARD TO TELL WHETHER WHAT A PERSON IS EXPERIENCING IS A DIRECT RESULT OF THE PRESCRIBED DRUG. I JUST DONT KNOW WHAT TO THINK, ALL I  KNOW IS THAT I THINK I AM ON A HEAP LOAD OF DRUGS, AND AM WONDERING IF THEY ARE DOING MORE HARM THAN GOOD.
PLEASE, SOME OF YOU OUT THERE, TELL ME HOW MANY MG YOU WERE PRESCRIBED, AND SIDE EFFECTS.
YOU'LL TAKE CARE, DAISY

Re: neurontin

[b]Sunny......I was taking 4800mg, My doctor said to take it all at once....what a roller coaster ride!!!!!! i was not give this drug for Bi polar, but feel as if i may have developed some symptons of bi polar disorder as result. That may sound silly but very true. I am no longer on it but still feel the effect of it ALOT!!!!!!

There has to be a way for ALL those who were the pharmesuetical ginney pigs to be compensated for all the loss. I am not on to be sue happy but I do feel this is just cause for a law suit. I wonder if the target would be the Doctor's, knowing it was not approved or the companise promoting it, I think they both are at fault!!!!!!!

Kepp your chin up, with all that is goingon now, WE will find a way and you WILL survive!!!!!!! WE all will!!!!
