I have RSD/CRPS due to a work injury in 1999. I needed neck surgery and/or shoulder surgey. After playing a wicked game of chess with the doctors, insurance companies and attorneys, and the Dept. of labor the neck surgery was approved for 12/2. Istarted showing signs of RSD before the surgery. Affter the surgery my Dr.'s put me neurontin for nerve pain because I wasn't getting better. I then started getting worse. All the side effects started showing. Ive had diarereha, brain fog, dizziness, bumping into walls, tripping over things, dropping things, insomnia--you name it. I've had my dosages decrease and increased. I'm also hypoglcemic which is the opposi  te of diabetic. I'm trying to get off the neurontin, but my doctors don't want me to. I've closed my work comp case and now I'm permanetly partially disabled. Partial refers to parts of the body. Now I'm on medicare and the neurontin is the most expensive drug I'm on ($200)!! for 600 mg. 3x a day.The dr's. keep increasing my pain meds too, and I'm on a mix of so many other meds. Anyone with info on low blood sugar please write to me with the website where I can get this info.Aloha

TO THE DISABLED DUE TO WORK INJURY...WHAT IS RSD????
Dear Maddie--Dr. Nathan Rudin at the John Hopkins Univ. desribes RSD best--"If Hell were a clincical medical condition, it might look something like refelex sympathetic dystrophy. The disorder has many names-but they all describe the same thing: a constant intense burning pain in a limb that once it begins it never goes away." There is no cure because they don't know what causes it. It is a neurological disorder and involves the CNS-central nervous system, the autonomic nervous system and the nerves and blood vessels keep misfiring signals. The Result PAIN. You can research at www.rsds.org or another website I just found is www.painrecoveryonline.com -this site if you click on RSD and then click on the anti-convulsants will compare them and there side effects. It also lists opiods, anti-depressents etc. Hope this helps everyone out there.
I hurt myself exercising and my Dr. had to readjust all my pain meds again. The RSD has come back with a vengence  I also have read that the FDA is putting new warning labels on anti-depressents. so check out www.fda.gov. Hope this info helps all One day at a time-Aloha :-? Skooze
