Neurontin, which is known generically as Gabapentin, may be linked to suicide and suicide attempts. Neurontin is prescribed for epilepsy but has been prescribed for numerous off label uses. Neurontin was approved for sale in the mid-1990s as a treatment for epileptic seizures. However, it is believed that approximately 80 percent of all Neurontin prescriptions were filled for unapproved medical conditions.

If you or a loved one was injured by Neurontin, please complete the free case inquiry form on the right side of this page.

neurontin

This is a horrible law suit. There are few effective medications to treat people with chronic nerve related pain in addition to other pain syndromes including RSD. Neurontin has been effective in reducing pain in people with certain pain syndromes including radiculopathy and chornic nerve generated pain conditions. Other older medications used to treat these pain syndromes have potentially greater side effects. In addition to possible addiction to narcotic pain medication. If neurontin is not able to perscribed to treat these conditions it would come at a huge cost to those millions of people which this medication helps and imporves their quality of life. All medications have side effects and a decision  between the bennifits and risks of all medications should be balanced before anyone is placed on a medication. And a person should be informed about the off label non FDA approved use of this medication. I olny hope that this lawsuit is declared completely without merrit a few greedy individuals should not be able to change the life of so many people. yikes

I had sever headaches do to a fall. I had injured a disk in my neck. C5-C6.Memeroy (forgetting what I was saying . And things I was doing). problems started after taking med. I would have mood swings of anger. Because of the forgetfulness. I was seen by a DR and given memory tests. I had never had this problem in my life before.

The FDA is here for your safety  "as well as for the those millions of people which this medication helps and improve their quality of life". The fact is that this medication was approved  for one thing. Any other use without the FDA's approval is illegal . And if the drug was useful in the treatment of other problems then why not go to the FDA with the proof before starting a million dollar  campaign to push the drug.

" the pharmaceutical company agreed to plead guilty to charges             it illegally promoted non-approved uses for its anti-epilepsy drug                              Neurontin and pay $430 million in fines"

They admitted to you the had defrauded you and millions of others. Some that are not with us today to hear that they was not worthless and they did have the right to live.
"without merit a few greedy individuals should not be able                  to change the life of so many people"

We live in a Republic .We choose for a small number of informed people to make informed decision for us . This is to protect the rights of all . The FDA is your decision makers and your protectors from a " few greedy individuals" That think they can do what ever it takes to make a buck at your expense.

                THEY PLEADED GUILTY

Re: neurontin

Hi guest 1 or 2 or the same or different? :-?  For guest 2 might I add that C5-6 is where your sympathetic nervous system is . What kind of injury did you have? Did you have surgery? Were any other C levels injured as well? If C1/2 was & they all can be affected from the injury, because in spinal chord injuries the pain can go up or down the site of injury, and that would explain some things. Did you have  an MRI done? Was your Dr. a neurologist or a family Dr. or a shrink? & which dr. gave you the memory test?  I too had an injury at C5/6 & C6/7. I had alot of vision problems, as well as memory problems as well as neurontin hangovers.  yikes  Please respond & maybe I can help you. Take care & keep us posted! 8) Skooze

Re: neurontin

You have to be nuts if you think everyone can take Neurontin.  I almost gave up my own drivers license because of that.  I too suffer from chronic nerve pain.  While taking Neurontin, I bounced off the walls in my home, I slured my words at work and I almost killed myself by hitting a gaurdrail on the highway.  Not all people are greedy.  Some have been hurt.

Re: neurontin

I agree with you not everyone is out to make a buck. It's just not right to get on a medication to help you thinking it's made to treat a illness like mine Bi-polar and then it makes matters worse i cut my wrist almost died due to this drug co. who wants to make a buck off sales by treating illnesses it was not created to treat. Now thats who out to make a dollar !not a person who suffered side effects like mine .  :x

Re: neurontin

If you think these companies are ethical, then you haven't read the case filing against Pfizer.  Read below and think about the culture of this company.

The court papers offer a remarkable insight into the ethics (or lack thereof) of a major multinational pharmaceutical company. A senior marketing executive at Parke-Davis was quoted during a teleconference as saying to medical liaisons:

"Pain management, now that’s money. Monotherapy, that’s money. We don’t want to share these patients with everybody, we want them on Neurontin only. We want their whole drug budget, not a quarter, not half, the whole thing....That’s where we need to be holding their hand and whispering in their ear: ‘Neurontin for pain, Neurontin for monotherapy, Neurontin for everything’ ... I don’t want to hear that safety crap either, have you tried Neurontin, every one of you should take one just to see there is nothing [that the drug is safe], it’s a great drug."

"Safety crap" huh.  And we're supposed to trust these people?  Yikes!!
