blood clot

I was on Celebrex for 2 weeks and suddenly got an unexplained blood clot in my leg. Could the Celebrex have caused this? Did anybody else have a similar experience?

Re: blood clot

I took Vioxx for a period of months, then switched to Celebrex for several months. This was for a knee injury that resuted in mild arthritis to the knee. This was in 2002 and 2003. In late 2003, I experienced a deep vein thrombosis in the shoulder. I was taking Celebrex at the time. I was in ICU for 10 days. I had multiple surgeries to remove my 1st rib, had to undergo extensive intervention radiology procedures including the use of the clot buster TPA & heparin. I nearly died, and am very lucky to be alive. I was on Coumdin for 6 months and am still on Plavix. When the news about Vioxx hit a few months ago I did not make the connection. On Friday though when I read Celebrex causes blood clots it hit me like a ton of bricks -  bingo! I am only 40, and am in great shape and was 39 when this happened. I never could really figure out why i got blod clots - now I know.
