Re: Bextra

Thanks for the reply. I have the FLB's that are in the top chambers of the heart and they say they are not life threatening. The funny thing is my dad had been taking the bextra also and he developed the flb, but his was in the lower chamber and it was life threatening. They eventually shocked his heart back in rhythm and he appears to be OK. He told me that it was the bextra way back when it happened to him (October). He knew it was dangerous way before they recalled Vioxx. My grandmother had a massive heartacttack at 50 but she survived because she was in the ER when it happened. The doctors told her that there wasn't anything wrong with her and she was preparing to leave when she had the attack. Last year, I had an uncle that had a massive heart attack at 49 but he did not survive, so I am a little concerned with the FLB deal. I will be 42 in a few days and I would hate to know that I have caused  a problem that is going to surface in a few years. Thanks for your reply.

Re: Bextra

For the medical issues, you really should consult a cardiologist who has familiarity with the emerging problems with Cox II drugs to see what is known about the long term effects.

If you want to do your own reserach, let me know and I can begin to gather some of the medical studies that discuss this.  But in any event, nothing is a substitute for seeing the right doctor.  However, being knowledgeable yourself may help you in finding the right doctor.

Re: Bextra

Any info direction you can point me in, I would greatly appreciate it. I have been involved in a lawsuit before involving a large chemical giant (Dupont). You may be familiar with the case involving the chemical Benelate. It took me seven years to settle out of court with them. They settled the day before going to court.  I refused to negotiate with them and they drug me thru the gutter but I prevailed. I got what I wanted but it was a draining process. These large companies have the money (or the stockholders do) to hold out until people are broke or beat down. I am not up to a big fight again, but if they have caused me harm I will fight til my death. I know this will be a frustrating ordeal just like before. I'm not crazy about a class action suit but that may be what it takes to get the ball rolling. That's what happened in my other case, they had a couple class action suits that kept bringing out the dirt and they finally realized they would do better to just cut me my check and get rid of me. My attorney tried for several years to get me to settle and it got to the point  at the end I could not even set in the same room with him because I told him I wanted what was due me  and he was going to court and fight for it. I knew that I could lose everything but I felt deep in my heart I would win. When I finally settled, one of the other partners did the paper work and because of the hard feelings. I just dread the thought of going through more of these kinds of actions, but I will.

Re: Bextra

Here is what is on the Pfizer site about studies:
    http://www.bextra.com/clinical_studies-34.asp
... of course, check the source, its Pfizer!

This site lists many statistics:

To do further reserach, I would recommend a search like:
http://www.google.com/search?sourceid=navclient&ie=UTF-8&rls=GGLC,GGLC:1969-53,GGLC:en&q=bextra+side+effect+study+%2Dlawyer+%2Dlawsuit+%2Dlawfirm

From the FDA:

Hope that helps.
