PLEASE HELP! I'M TRYING TO UNDERSTAND WHAT MY BROTHER IS GOI

Try the two sites below. Then find a doctor near you who is certified to use Buprenorphine for opiate detox. I understand that even heroin junkies call it a "gift from God to junkies"

Re: PLEASE HELP! I'M TRYING TO UNDERSTAND WHAT MY BROTHER IS GOI

Hello, my friend has just told me that he's on oxy. His Doc prescribed it to him even though he told them he was an addict in recovery!! We are now looking at a long and painful road ahead to get him clean again.

As far as your brother is concerned, He needs to go to as many recovery meetings as possible! Narcotics Anonymous is what has worked for me. I have been clean now for 2 1/2 yrs. He can find the support of other recovering addicts who know exactly what he is experiencing. I applaud you for being there for him, he needs you now more than ever. All that you can do is to love him and try to encourage him to seek recovery. There are a great many more issues to address as one recovers besides the use of drugs. I pray that he can find what he needs and that he is able to stay clean.  God bless you.

Re: PLEASE HELP! I'M TRYING TO UNDERSTAND WHAT MY BROTHER IS GOI

I have just detoxed off 360mg of oxycontin/day through a treatment called RODA (RApid Opiate Detox) You're put out and they run Naltrexone through your system to clean out the opiates and block the receptors - a pellet is also inserted under  the skin that lasts 60 days. Other meds prescribed were (are) clonodine for sweats and cramps, Gabapentin which is a wonderful very very safe nerve blocker and some diazipam (valium) (no more than 1 week)

This was without a doubt the most difficult experience of my life - especially the 3 years of oxy - its brutal - get away from your regular GP if he doesn't understand addiction. Hot baths, music and and soon as he's ready NA meetings - he has to talk to other addicts
