Does anyone out there have anything new on Chronic Fatigue or Fibromyalgia?
I have been diagnosed for almost a year with fibromyalgia and have been on neurontin for that duration for pain. What is new with me is that I may have had seizures connected with the neurontin use. I will find out on 2/10 when I get a cat scan done. I didn't know that seizures, in rare cases, may be a side effect of this drug. robinray26@yahoo.com
Hello,
I just wanted to say that neurontin-at least in me-causes horrible depression-crying spells.
I suffer from fibromyalgia which is a syndrome that causes widespread muscle pain and fatigue. There is no known clear etiology though there are many theories as to what causes it. There is also, therefore, no specific treatment that really helps . However, some people have found help through various meds/nutrition/etc.-the only things doctors really do is offer sleep meds/pain meds/muscle relaxers and anti depressants.
I actually have neurontin for some neuropathy I went through. At one time it helped my neuropathy but it didn't help me with it later and only gives me extreme depression after taking it.
I looked at drug sites and they don't mention this as a major side effect and think that I may be just having a rare side effect but want to warn those on here just in case they notice this horrible side effect after taking neurontin.
I did not have any problems with depression and the depressive feelings happen several hours after taking neurontin.
Good luck.

I have been using neurontin for two months at the dose of 600 mg a day for my migraines. I also have CFIDS and Fibro and did not even relate the neurontin to anything but my migraines. My migraines continued and I have been increased to 1800 mg of neurontin a day. I have onlyl been taking the 1800 mg a day for 3 days now and have felt better than ever. I told my sister that usually I can only do something such as clean the house for no more than 1 hour a day and today I cleaned for three hours. I told her I couldn't figure it out. That was just two hours ago and I happen upon this sight when I was looking for information on taking neurontin and Trimspa at the same time. It seems quite a coincidence that I find a question re: taking neurontin and possibly helping CFIDS and Fibro when I feel normal for the first time in years after two days of the increased dose of the drug. Obviously the two days is not long enough to make a decision if the drug is helping CFIDS and Fibro, but I thought the coincidence of the increased dose and my feeling so good and writing this was worth the while to repeat, in case any of you who know what it's like to have CFIDS and Fibro need some hope to hold onto I know how any hint of hope of help is worth checking into. Good Luck. I will write back later and let you know how I continue with Neurontin and my health.

my name is rose and i have fibromylgia i have been dealing with it for about fourteen years now. i have tryed neurontin and just about every pain medication on the market with not much relief. some days i just hurt so bad that i want to give up. right now my dr. has me on oxycontin and lortab sometimes it helps by taking the pain away but only for awhile. i am now taking alot of different vitimans and i am also going to try some of the natural cures it can't hurt. i also have diabetes, high cholesterol andarthritis two kinds.as if i didn't have enough pain my dr. put me on crestor to try and lower my cholestrol and now i get severe cramps in my calf muscles and in my arms. i only took the crestor for six nights and when i woke up on the forth morning both of my calf muscles cramped up and i fell into the wall hit my sholder and landed on my safe. i thought i had just bruised my sholder perty good, no such luck i had a mri done and i tore my muscle and tendon and i now have to go in may forth to get it fixed. if you find any meds or anything that helps the pain for fibro please let me know. you can e-mail at rosevickery@yahoo.com

in reading and talking to a health food store owner, and on line they all said that they got relief in taking baths in dead sea salt, they said it helped them and i just ordered some so i will let you know. i have had fibromylgia for the fourteen years along with cfs and a few other things and i know your pain as for me yesterday and all of today i could hardly move and i hate these days because on days like this you don't know how much more you can take and that scares me. when i find out if the dead sea salt works i sure will tell you. got to be something better then drugs to geet you thru life.

A prescription of Neurontin (Gabapentin) for the treatment of Fibromyalgia is a so-called "off-label" use and is not FDA approved for this purpose. Doctors are free to prescribe it but there is not scientific basis for it. Neurontin was developed for treatment of epilepsy and shingles.
