Anyone out there in this situation? Had taken Celebrex (similar to Vioxx) over three years and had a massive heart attack 9/6/04. Two weeks weeks later also had a triple bypass. I wonder if Celebrex implicated in the event. I had no family history and few risk factors for heart disease. Cholesterol level was close to normal and had been normal most of my life (I'm 53). Any other heart attack victims out there who were taking Celebrex??? Give me a shout.

Hi ericlove,
I just had a heart attack and went into caridac arrest on 12/1/04. Lucky to be alive, as I'm sure you are too. Had 100% blockage caused by a blood clot in the main coronary artery. Very accute /no prior symptoms or problems before this. Also no family history of heart problems. I am female, 47 years old, in pretty good health, was walking 3 miles/exercising everyday, eating a good diet, I only weigh 125 pounds. I have high blood pressure, but it is under control with meds. This whole thing was a shock to my family, friends and myself. I have been on celebrex 200mg. twicw a day for the past 5 yrs or so. Also took vioxx for a short period during that time.
Feel free to email me a shakndtree@aol.com

See my post above (Don/TX). Sounds like we are in the same boat so to speak.
Lucky? For sure. The doc said less than one in 20 get as far gone as I was and even live, claimed I was a whole 10 minutes away from death.

Sounds like all of you may have had side effects of Celebrex.
Our law firm has been involved in the Cox II issues for over 3 years. We have some of our cases Vioxx starting to go to trial in 2 1/2 months. We also filed the 1st Bextra law suit.
Based on our experts opinions, we have felt for sometime that these are "class" effects not limited to any one Cox II pharmaceutical.
If you would like any additional information, please call us any time, any day at 1-800-LAW-INFO (1-800-529-4636) or visit our website www.yourlawyer.com.

i haven't had a heart attack, but i have palpitations and chest pain. i even stopped exercising because i get short of breath and am afraid that i'll have a cardiac arrest because of the palpitations. i'm only 43 years old. not a good way to live life in fear.

I just returned home from my brother's funeral. He was 53 years old and had a clean physical two months ago. He had been taking Celebrex for the past two years for the arthritis in his knee. There have been no heart attacks on either side of the family going back generations. He was dressing for work, had a massive heart attack, and died. Seems to be a recurring theme here......

my father died from a heart attack on 11/26/2004. He had been to see
his heart doctor two days prior. He as given a clean bill of health.
Dad had been on celebrex for the past four years for arthritis problems.
Our family has never had heart problems. It seems like celebrex is the
main factor in his sudden death. I don't know where to go with this.

Why not get an evaluation of your case from Mr Parker? You can do it online quickly right here on this site, and it is free. What have you got to lose?. Sure sounds like a classic example to me (but I am NOT an attorney, just an old guy that took celebrex for a couple years and had a heart attack too)
