my spouse had a psychotic episode just about one year ago. he's been on various meds since then. at present he's taking depakote, zyprexa and zoloft. the thing is, while he certainly isn't manic anymore, he is still very depressed, and now sleeps between 12-15 hours a day. obviously not working at this point so part of the depression stems from this. He also has tremors of the hands, diminished vision and no appetite. I'm sincerely concerned. we have no health insurance so he goes through the county. anyone have any suggestions for our options at this point? Thanks and I'm sure glad I found this forum!

After both of my 2 psychotic breaks, I felt humiliated. Actually, I still do after a year since the last one. I've come to accept my role as a pariah. I doubt the pills will help your spouse. But we are still in the dark ages...Renfield

Please perform a search on "Zyprexa", read the detailed adverse reactions, contraindications, etc. This should help you match up some of your husband's symptoms, behavior, etc. with the info on the drug. You will likely find articles, info, etc. saying that Zyprexa is at least questionable because of its long list of side effects. After I had experienced a horrible reaction to another drug -- Bextra -- and all of my fingernails and toenails became detached, huge chunks of skin fell off of my body, my hair fell out, etc. -- a less than sensitive doctor gave me an entire bottle (sample) of Zyprexa to take, rather than referring me to a psychologist for counseling, as I had asked. Fortunately, I did not take the medicine, returned it to the doctor and got a new physician. Best wishes

I had some tremors from Zyprexa when it was increased too high. Maybe the dosage should be tapered off. Once in the hospital my options were ect, or having Zyprexa increased really high.
