Who is really responsible for computer viruses and worms, ec
Computer viruses and worms, ect..
We are all told to buy virus protection for our computers. We are told to update every month, then every week, then every day, ect. It occurred to me that perhaps this was all a gimmack. Perhaps there are not a million brilliant hackers thinking up these schemes, but perhaps greedy computer giants and internet providers who benefit from our manic attempts to stay ahead of their little tricks. You have a choice join the mad dash like in the movie "It"s a Mad Mad World" and spend a mad, mad amount of money or have your hard drive destroyed. Why is it that no one is looking into the biggest scam ever or are we like PT Barnum said a pack of fools, more born everyday?

It is funny you use this forum to ask about what you see as a potential scam. Hey, how much did you spend for your computer? How much per year for connection? (think buying the car and the gas here). Base these numbers on the cost for virus protection and compare that with the cost of auto insurance. The percentages between the two?
There may not be 1,000's of hackers waiting to get into just your precious computer, but rest assured, if you store any information on it, it can and would be grabbed. In fact, I bet you don't even have a firewall with your DSL home connection do you? A decent hacker, if you had your checking account info, password list, basically anything personal can be stolen. But then again small fish (like me) the time (a hacker ROI) isn't worth it.
Hey, for me, the $20 a year updates for Anti-Virus, $20 for spy ware and ad blocker installed, to protect my data, life isn't squat. That would be 1 coffee a week at starbucks for one month....
If you are this paranoid about hackers, paying the "Big Machine" your few bucks, I say unplug, read a book, except don;t go to the library, they're watching, or barnes & Nobles, they're tracking purchases, don't use a credit card, EVER, get a post office box to protect your home address, and pay cash for everything. Also, begin to sign all documents with a social security number of 777-77-7777. It's show the really big guy that you ain't supporting the whole scam.... ahh, but that's another rant...
