Side Effects

I was wondering if anyone knew anyone or if you yourself were taking Geodon. My best friend is taking this drug a very small dose with Lexapro 20mg. It is normal an anti physcotic drug for Scihitzophreny (sp?). She is not and in small doses it can be used for panic disorders which she has.

My question is she has lost a lot of weight quickly! Does anyone else have any  news or information they can report. Thank you

Re: Side Effects

Yes weight loss is a side effect of Geodon.  I know that they were doing a study on it.  Weight gain can be a huge problem, (no pun intended) for people on antipsychotics and mood stablizers, so for those people the weight loss is a good side effect.

I took it for a brief time for bipolar disorder and it really Zonked me out.  My energy level was -5,  I couldnt function at all.

Re: Side Effects

unreal,
Thank you so much! She has lost 41 pounds in a matters of about 3 months which I said for her is very very unusual! The doctors are continually surprised because with Lexapro you can gain easily. I guess that is true with most anti depressants. But, I thought because of the Geodon that maybe that was the cause of the weight loss. Did you find that the weight loss leveled off? If so after how long? Also, besides being wiped out were there any other side effects you had from it and where did you hear about the studies? Thanks so much that puts my mind at ease.
