I was on Celebrix, 400mg, for a very long time. (I no longer take it.) The purpose was to ease up the cronic pain I have to deal with.
The side effects were:
1... It sent my blood pressure all over the map in the high zone.
2... I had sever headaches.
The reason for the headaches, it turns out, was because I had a Cerebral Aneurysm forming and the high blood pressure was making the aneurysm buldge. The buldging, caused by the rapid increase of blood pressure, caused by the now famous Celebrix, is what caused the headaches.
On April 3, 2002, the Cerebral Aneurysm hemorrhaged. I have some rough side effects from the rupture to deal with daily.
My question being;
Did the Celebrix, that sent my blood pressure through the roof, set off a stroke that caused further increase in blood pressure and rapid pluse, cause the Cerebral Aneurys to burst?
The EMT's that came to my house treated me as if I was having a stroke. The general concenus is that a victim that suffers a hemorrhaged Cerabal Aneurysm displays those of the run of the mill strokes.
My view, of course, is that the Celebrix triggered the whole mess by causing my blood pressure to rise to a very dangerous level and thereby cause the Aneurysm to burst.
I submitted this theory, with documents, to Parker & Waichman to see if I had a case against Celebrix. They are, afterall, famous for bringing justice to notible causes.
They do cite a case of winning $7,000,000 for some poor person that says he/she lost a lottery ticket. Wow!
Much to my surprise, and horror, I do not fit the pattern that will fit in their niche of cases to win. Never mind the fact that I pumped 400mgs a day of Celebrix that started the whole mess with my Cerebral Aneurysm.
I guess I can't really fault Parker & Waichman for not wanting to tread new ground; but I do. Especially when they take on a case involving a lottery ticket, and winning, that didn't really put anyone in danger.
Okay, that sounds like a bad case of sour grapes. So. I'm just tired of getting kicked while I'm down.
It's a matter of how many bucks I guess.
Thank you for the use of the soap box.
I'll keep tabs on this forum to see how things go for everyone.

Something to consider, as I understand this case, even people who suffered NO actual effects can still be awarded some money for the additional health checks they must have completed the rest of their lives to check for heart health, and possible heart problems, etc.
I guess I fit their desired profile, I actually had a bad heart attack while on 400mg, and had been taking it for about two years prior.

I would not be too hasty to give up yet, or to use a pun, "the jury is still out on that issue".
It would appear that NOTHING is being done on Celebrex cases anywhere by anyone. They have had my case for over 18 months, and although it seems like an easy win to me, nothing has been done. I had always had LOW blood pressure, and a couple of months before my heart attack, it was unusually high! I did not find out about that until gathering my records for Parker and Waichman, should have been a red light for someone I suppose, especially since I had been on Celebrex so long, and at that time had just started taking a prescribed double dose since arthritic pain was getting worse.
I feel strongly that Celebrex caused my heart attack, and would hate to see it fall by the wayside just because there were larger and easier cases to win. I see Celebrex just started some fairly long term study, I suppose that will delay all the cases until the statue of limitations has rendered all our claims useless.
It is particularly disturbing to watch the judicial system drag on until we are all dead when it might be an issue to be decided in our favor, yet watch how quickly ones against us progress! It would be wonderful if we could avoid say a stop light infraction, by studying for years if it were properly placed, sufficient brightness, timed properly, etc, and then die before we ever had to pay the fine! Oh well, I guess I should have just lost a lottery ticket or something simple.
I suppose even if the case ever got to a judge or jury, we got an award, it would be after our death that the appeals by Pfizer would quit and we would see any money. Am I negative today or what!
