On September 15, 1997 the FDA asked American Home Products (now Wyeth), the manufacturer or fenfluramine (Pondimin) and dexfenfluramine (Redux) to voluntarily remove these drugs from the market. These anti-obesity drugs were prescribed by themselves or in combination with phentermine for weight loss. "Fen-Phen" refers to the use in combination of fenfluramine and phentermine.

The FDA decision to remove the drugs came after researchers at the Mayo Clinic and Mayo Foundation reported 24 cases of rare valvular disease know as Primary Pulmonary Hypertension or PPH in women who took the "fen-phen" combination therapy. Subsequently, FDA received 66 additional reports of heart valve disease associated mainly with "fen-phen." There were also reports of cases seen in patients taking only fenfluramine or dexfenfluramine.

Primary Pulmonary Hypertension can take years to develop. If you or a loved on took Fen Phen and was diagnosed with PPH you may have valuable legal rights, please complete the case inquiry form of the right side of this page for a free consultation.

new to board and need informaiton

Hi everyone!  I can't believe how up to date and informed you all are!  My mother is part of this class action suit and we have pretty much no information.  I know that a few years ago, she got a review letter and according to the attorneys office, payout was usually within 45 days of the "review letter".  I think that was just before the May audit deal that came up that stalled everything...I don't know right off hand her catagory (but remember it being one of the biggies, she has lots of damage). How do you all have so much information?  Is she PADL? or what groups she falls in?  I am just beginning to get involved in following up on this on my own so I don't even know where to start.  It makes me very sad that we have to try to get information on  our own and can't get ANYTHING from our attorneys office.
any info would be helpful...and sorry to appear so clueless...i just don't know where to even start!!!
thx
Dee

First, could you tell us your mother's damages from FenPhen?  Next you could mention when she signed onto this class action and who she has for her attorney might help as well.  It would be good if you mentioned some of your mother's symptoms that she has had as well.  We will all try to help but we need something to go by.

Re: new to board and need informaiton

I am new to this cite.  I have met only one other person whose family member was killed by Zyprexa.  I would like to meet more. I have been very active with the press, testifying before the FDA, attending a protest, etc.  I have to do these things to save my own sanity and life, and to honor my son.  E
