Bleeding issues while on Couamdin

Last week my INR was 6.2 and I was spitting up blood in clumps and blowing my nose produced huge stringy clumps of blood. I even developed a cyst on my ovary containing blood. Now that my INR is 2.9 I have no more problems with bleeding. My cardiologist said this was normal if the INR is as high as mine was.

Re: Bleeding issues while on Couamdin

Ok Ali, good start we need to get some discussion going on in here. Think up some topics. I got one.

Anyone having problems after valve replacement with Coumadin levels? What kind of side effects are you having. Thanks a friend of mine is going through some rough times with it.

Re: Bleeding issues while on Couamdin

I HAD A VALVE REPLACEMENT IN AUG. MY COUMIDIN WAS ERATIC ALL THE TIME. I TAKE 6MG A DAY. MY DR SAYS THAT IT CAN BE AFFECTED BY ALOT OF THINGS....IF YOU EAT ALOT OF SALAD, DO IT EVERY DAY! IF YOU EAT IT EVERYDAY , YOU CANT GO A MONTH WITHOUT EATING SALAD AND THEN EAT IT EVERY NIGHT. I TOLD MY DR. I WOULD EAT A SMALL SALAD EVERYDAY AND THEN I WOULD KNOW THERE WASNT A HIGH OF VITAMINK ONE DAY AND THEN A LOW.SO FAR MY STAYS PRETTY STABLE. WE TRIED SEVERAL DIFFERANT AMOUNTS AT FIRST .  I TOLD HIM YOU CANT NOT EAT VEGETABLES AND LOOSE WEIGHT, SO IT WOULD BE EASIER TO JUST BE CONSISTANT! MY INRHAS BEEN STAYING AT OR AROUND 2.7......

Re: Bleeding issues while on Couamdin

Well it happened again a month later. Ive developed 2 large cysts on my ovaries and while I was seeing the GYN I had a terrible nosebleed. He is going to watch it for 6-8 weeks and if the cysts dont go away he will have to remove the cysts and the ovaries. Not another surgery so soon!!

Does any ladies have any problems with cysts while on Coumadin? Ive never had these problems before I started taking Coumadin.

Re: Bleeding issues while on Couamdin

I have been on this drug for 12 years.  it is very powerful, but keeps us living with out clots....I have always taken the coumadin. last time i ordered my medication, the drug sent me the gernic warfaren.....i had to take a pro time every week then 2 weeks and just as soon as I got back on coumadin, I only have to be tested once a month...there is a difference in the coumadin and the gernic....i take 5, 5, and 7/12.  have been doing this for 12 years

Re: Bleeding issues while on Couamdin

I've been on Warfarin since October due to a PE in my left lung. I will be going off the meds on August 1 (thank goodness!). The biggest side effect I've had from it is nosebleed. My nose has bled pretty much the whole 8 1/2 months I've been on the meds. Not only that, but I've also had hair loss from the Warfarin. I've found the whole situation to be extremely frustrating. Took them forever to get my INR straightened out.
