Hi, I am new to this. I am so thankful that I have found a place where I can hear others share stories that are very similar to what I have been experiencing. My pain started a few summers ago and just like some of you mentioned, I have been to several doctors and no one has yet to diagnose my problem. At first I was questioned as to whether or not I had been swimming in a lake or in a hot tub.....no.....not having any idea why I would even be asked such a question. Then I was told I may have the herpes virus in my eye and put on antibiotics for several months for that. I was NEVER told what in the world had caused this condition, only that my eye has been permanently scarred. I have been to 2 doctors locally, 2 doctors in Atlanta including Omni Eye Care and Emory Eye Care-both cornea specailists, oh and also an opthamologist in Missouri because we were there last year on vacation and my eye was in such excrutiating pain that I had to wear sunglasses inside and THAT didn't even help. Want to hear the funny part............. 3 of them have told me that in order to improve my vision somewhat, I need to have a special fitting for a hard contact lense as opposed to the soft contact lenses I used to wear! Are they crazy??? Anyone that would want you to put a contact in your eye at this point obviously has no clue the pain that you are going through. As far as I am concerned wearing contacts (indirectly) caused this in the first place. I don't want to see another contact as long as I live. No thanks, I would really like to KEEP the vision I still have in my other eye.
Any updates from anyone??? Please tell me there is something that can be done. I have four very young children and I can't even enjoy the quality of life I once had. My four year old daughter asks me why I am mad all the time. She thinks because I am constantly squinting, that I am frowning.
