Demerol withdrawl

Hi everyone I've been on very high doses of demerol for close to seventeen months for an extremely rare but painfuk eye disease called acanthamoeba keratitis, I was put on demerol because I have an allergy to codine so the side effects of many other drugs were worse then the actually pain, after seventeen months of treatment and a cornea transplant the pain has diminished to a bearable level, I want very badly to be off this drug it served its purpose and I dont regret the decision I made to be put on it however the withdrawl is not bearable I'm at a loss about what to do is there anyone else out there who has had to come off this drug? would did you do it? any advice would be greatly appreciated Thanks! :a lone newfoundlander:
