In the last few days it seems like everybody's going to sue, the number of vioxx lawsuits looks to be very large. Is anybody here going to try?

I thought about it. I had no heart problems before I turned 28yrs. Now I have to take a pill everyday just to keep my heart slowed down. If I'm even an hour late I feel like my chest will explode.

My Mom took it for 4 years and had to have a bypass last year. anyone have any success with sorting out all the hype from all the legal sites pushing for folks to join class actions?
Thanks for any replies

Called Mom last night and turns out she's already registered and is going to join a lawsuit with these guys. I sure hope it works out, she's been through a lot

I am thinking about joining the class action suit. Is 40 percent plus expenses the norm for attorney fee in this suit? Just wondered?
Offline
i guess 40% is norm but you can get 33% too. it all depends on what work they do. if all they basically have to do is paper work then 40% is a bit much imo. after all the phen fen mess i would ask lawyer directly if they are handling my case or passing it off to another. as in the p/f cases for the mass settlement mostly all the lawyers had to do was organize paper work. but if they are going to follow thru and end up representing you in court then they will more then likely pass it onto you. i just saw some interviews where the drug co. reps were saying there would be no mass settlement blah blah blah. every case would go to court and fought hard. blah blah blah. lol you get the point. that is what they say in the beginning. vioxx might dwarf p/f in law suits. so everyone be careful and ask questions. there will be people out there wanting to make some fast money. remember health comes first. anyone affected by this i hope you have recovered your health.

I was on Vioxx for about 5 years. I developed atrial fibrillation while on this drug. Is there a connection to this from the vioxx?

Hello, I hope I find you all well...
Could anyone tell me if there has been an actual Scheme set up, either national or individual states, where users of Vioxx are 'guaranteed' compensation should they meet certain criteria for there suffering?
Cheers

Hello again...
Is the class action by a colaberation of different lawyer firms, or one main lawyer firm, with 'feeder' firms (so to speak). As a non-native of the US, I am not sure how differently your system varies to the UK.
Cheers, again

:-? I have decided to inquire about Canadian class action suits. I will then make an educated decision from there. I am angry that it took so long and so many casualties to do something about it! It also botheres me that the Canadian equivalent of the FDA simply takes the research done by other countries such as the States and then bases it's decision on those findings- we no longer have our own research. For this reason we as Canadians are often put at risk waiting for other countries or drug companies to compile and analyze results. Futhermore, I can't believe that everytime I have brought this up to my doctor his response is a dismissive wave. The only support I have recieved is from a highly acclaimed neurologist here in Edmonton Alberta Canada. Wish me luck!

I think you should discuss this with your doctor and look it up on the side effects that have been posted on the Net by Vioxx users like yourself and I. I think it is still your best bet to talk to a health care professional if you can- the info on the net is only as accurate as the person(s) posting it. Be wary of the sources friend!

My husband was taking vioxx for 5 months and recently passed away from a heart attack. I have a private attorney who's fee is 33% of the settlement.

Before any of you sign with an atty. PLEASE do your homework. I suggest you read the fen-phen forum to discover just exactly what can and will happen in a class action.

There are two types of designations you should understand: class actions and MDL's (Multidistrict Litigation). While you can opt-out of a class action, you cannot get around an MDL designation. For a description of MDL www.masstortshelp.com. It is important to understand how the MDL affects your case.
You should prepare yourself for 40% legal fees PLUS expenses. It is not uncommon for fees to be 45% or even 50%. However, the court always has the last say if a fee is too high.

Because of my Heart attack, Strokes and clots since taking vioxx and being placed on blood thinners, my career as a Police Officer and Pilot has come to an end!!!
I was injured in the line of duty in 9-1999 and placed on vioxx for pain until 4-2001 when I had my first Heart Attack followed by 2 mild strokes, TIA’s. I use to play baseball, basketball, water ski and skydive regularly! I cant do any of it anymore!!! I was in excellant shape until I got hurt on the job and placed on this drug!!
I was a victim of vioxx and Honestly just learned of the recall and suit in a local paper on 11/10/2007. The law firms I have spoken with since claim it was to late for my claime and that the recall was on TV and in the paper. I advised the firms, myself and others who sleep at night don’t see the infommercials at 4 in the morning and might have missed seeing the recalls and I don’t subscribe to a paper!
I have other comments but to much to list on here! Please get in touch with me. I am looking for help, not only for myself but others in the Illinois area and the country who might have even lost a loved one who was on Vioxx and didn’t know!!! I received E-Mails about birth control recalls and I’m not a woman! I heard about the Ford remote starter FIRE issues and didn't own a Ford! Why wasn't there a better source of contact and notification system in place for such a vital issue??
