On September 15, 1997 the FDA asked American Home Products (now Wyeth), the manufacturer or fenfluramine (Pondimin) and dexfenfluramine (Redux) to voluntarily remove these drugs from the market. These anti-obesity drugs were prescribed by themselves or in combination with phentermine for weight loss. "Fen-Phen" refers to the use in combination of fenfluramine and phentermine.

The FDA decision to remove the drugs came after researchers at the Mayo Clinic and Mayo Foundation reported 24 cases of rare valvular disease know as Primary Pulmonary Hypertension or PPH in women who took the "fen-phen" combination therapy. Subsequently, FDA received 66 additional reports of heart valve disease associated mainly with "fen-phen." There were also reports of cases seen in patients taking only fenfluramine or dexfenfluramine.

Primary Pulmonary Hypertension can take years to develop. If you or a loved on took Fen Phen and was diagnosed with PPH you may have valuable legal rights, please complete the case inquiry form of the right side of this page for a free consultation.

THANK YOU

I just wanted to take this opportunity to thank the law firm of Parker Waichman for giving us this place to vent.  I would be pulling my hair out even more over this if I did not have this forum.  I so hope this is all over soon.

Re: THANK YOU

Malikee - You might say that Mr. Parker and his firm are kind of like law doctors because they make our lives healthier, right? wink  I've been on this board now for 5 years and have always thought that they are very nice people.

Re: THANK YOU

To LKC
I know how you feel.  I am so happy to see a lot of deserving people have some confirmation that they will finally get paid.  But I am in the same situation as you, it seems.  I have been waiting for another "initial review letter" to arrive in the mail so I can sign it and get it back to them asap.  So I can wait and wait some more.  No one I talk to at the 7th seems to know much about claims or timelines that are still out there.  Please keep posting if you hear anything.  I am like so many that depend on this forum for real information.

Re: THANK YOU

LKC and sharbo - I am sooo glad the two of you brought this up, because I have been intending to post my 'plea' to everyone on this board to not disappear yet, because this is really not over for any of us quite yet - at least not until all claims (including the two of yours) are adjudicated and the balance of the fund is then split up between all of us.  And then there's the 'progression' of our illnesses to stay in touch about...,And let's not forget we will 'miss' one another in some cyber-sorta way, at least!

The 'main' issue, though, I believe is that we all stay persistent in letting cc and wyeth know that we are all still 'watching' them - even if it doesn't do any good; it's bound to at least get on their nerves...hehehehe

You two guys can really help us out too, by keeping us informed as to what's happening with your claims, and if cc was truthful when they said they would not allow the reserve fund to be 'held hostage'...  I would be greatly interested ion knowing if they are processing the remaining claims in an expediated manner, as promised, or if they intend to continue riding the clock so as to suck up all the remaining funds in 'fees', etc.

Let me close by saying how 'ridicules' it is that you guys are still waiting!  That's just plain wrong, and we are 'all' angry for you!  Please keep posting!  Except for maybe a couple of weeks 'right' after getting our money (to shop..smile  ) I promise to be back!  retha

Re: THANK YOU

I have just found this forum and continue to stay on it. Can anyone tell me what the process is now? Will I get a letter from class counsel or my law firm here in town? I can't remember exactly what happened last year.. Also, when all injured parties are paid in full, will we all share in what is left over or what? Still so many questions!  I would like to make sure you guys are all doing ok as well, to learn how you are getting on, how you are feeling, and what medical problems are worsening.. Please keep posting!

Re: THANK YOU

You should hear from your lawyer soon, how you get your money depends on how he works.  they may send you a release ahead of time to have you sign or may just call you or send you a release once they receive the money in their office.  In any event, the lump sum will be sent to your attorney and they will pay you.  We are glad you found this forum.  It has been such an advantage to not knowing anything.  I found it several years ago and then got busy with life and forgot about it.  I then found it again just before the first distribution.

What is supposed to happen in the end, once ALL claims have been paid, whatever money is left in the fund are to be distributed amound those received "matrix" benefits but that remains to be seen or never seen.  We will eventually see.
