I have had this all my life. I am very intimate with the way depression makes a person feel. Last december i was diagnoses with a torn disk in my back and I have bad back aches and the doctor gave me Neurontin. I was ok at first even thou it never really helped the pain I was taking it thinking it had ot get in my system and get to work. Then WHAM like a tidal wave the depression came worse then ever in mylife and I wanted to die like never before. My husband took all my medication from me and hid the guns. I was suisicdal like a manical I was banging my head against the walls ( literally) I could not stop crying I don't mean just crying I was wallowing in it. I was screaming i wanted to die I begged and pleaded my husband to help me killmyself ( can you imagine his pain also at this) I prayed and prayed and cryed outloud for God to help me. Please i ask him please help me see why and help me fix this I cannot belive the pain in my heart and head of the uselessness of life. i just couldn't accept this. Well I am poor and I could not afford to buy my medication for a week and I stooped taking it. I started to feel better in my head. I actually had a good day one day no crying I felt hopeful and not too much pain. I even joked and laughed a bit on the phone with a friend. Then I got my medication and took it. The next day ( today) I felt like killing myself again. over what I ask myself because there was a dish in the sink and i freaked out over it went into the bedroom and hid in the closet and cried hysterically for hours. I was praying still for the good Lord to help me see what is making me feel this pain help me I asked god to help me help myself out of this suffering. ALl of a sudden I thought wait a minute. I have depression I have! This is nothing like I have even felt before so what is ............? Neurotin the name jumped at me and I went and searched it on the internet. O my goodness look what I found here in this forum. I am amazed. I am stopping this medication immediately. It never really helped my back pain anyway and I do not want to kill myself and go to hell and leave behind all the heart ache it would create for the people who love me.I Thank God today for the wisedom he gave me to see what I need to do to help myself. I just found this site.  Have all the side effects listed, and have been off the drug for about a 14 months.  I have disc degenerative disease, the lumbar discs are suffering, fibro, CFIDS, and was born without a hip socket on the left side (which was "repaired" in June, 2006).  Was put on Neurontin when it first came out, and was on it until Lyrica came out last spring.  I have attributed the awful shaking, memory problems, et. all, to the fibro and CFIDS - guess not, huh?  When I get chilled just a tiny bit, stressed, tired, whatever - I begin to shake so bad you can see it on my entire body.  I have trouble just typing on here as my fingers jump around and misbehave most of the time.I live in Tucson, AZ - can anyone give me some advice ?? I recently moved out of state from where this doctor is located and it was stated, for the best, that I be “weaned† off this medication since, as he put it “long over due†, for me to be removed from it.He put me on a regiment of dropping 300 mg every 4 days to where I am now, none.My last 300mg pill was on this past Friday and since then, I have no slept more than 15 min per attempt, I have had sweats, irritability, the whole blown withdrawals that I been reading on different sites on this topic.I noted all the stories and the effects, which differ per person, about getting off this medication.  Now since I have been taking this medication for such a long period of time, and the “weaning process is now over†, how much longer can I expect these symptoms to persist and is there any OTC items that I can purchase to aid in quieting down these “symptoms† so I can finally be rid of them for good. Seems every motion I make or appeal I try just makes every attempt at fairness worse .  Unable to stand without shaking , sit without twitching , or sleep without waking every hour or two , I`m written myself off as the guilty party for allowing myself to eat all the meds prescribed for me over the last 10 years . After losing my 17 year job for inappropriate behavior , as they say , I am still alive . 4 months before I was fired , I had carpal release on both hands . Within a week after opening a new work comp case in 2004 , I no longer had a job , unemployment was denied , and severance was denied . My ex doctor wont see me anymore , reduced the bill I owed from 300 or so to 15 last week , but will not reply for my request for assistance mentally or physically . Somehow , a year after I was terminated , I was given SSDI , without appeal , but I dont even know for what , except they say I`m severely depressed .  I gave up a few years ago , but I wake every day wondering how to prohibit these drug companies from pushing some of there so called wonder drugs .
