About a month ago I started developing tingling and numbness in most of my toes. A few days later I developed tingling and numbness in fingers and both hands. Still a couple of days later, every thing started tasting metallic, even water. My leg muscles have weakened significantly. All of these symptoms are persisting today.
In June of 2001 I received my first dose of Lymerix, and the next dose in July 2001. When June 2002 came, I was informed that Lymerix had been dropped by its manufacturer due to "poor sales." Yeah, right...
During October 2001 I started experiencing a lot of pain in my neck, shoulders, and lower back. During November 2001, I had MRI's performed on my cervical and lumbar area's. It was determined that I had spur's growing on C3 & C4 and they were infringing on my spinal cord. L3 & L4 showed moderate amounts of "degradation". At that time I was more concerned with my lower back pain. While consulting the Neuro-surgeon, he made it out like my neck was more of a problem. He finally decided that neither was a candidate for surgery, so I was prescribed tramadol and flexeril. They work to a small degree. The lower back and the neck issues he diagnosed as arthritis. He commented that it was surprising to him that I had such growths at my age. I am 48 now and have always kept in good shape. Arthritis in not in my families history.
Since I was having this numbness, I had MRI's performed on my neck last week. The film reader described the arthritic growth as "significant increases" in comparison with my previous films of 11/01. In fact, there is not any space left around the spinal cord. The jury is still out on whether surgery is needed to fix that, but again, the experts can't say what is causing the numbness. I have been roaming the web reading about the side-effects of Lymerix. It certainly appears to me that I am showing symptoms of Lymes. I have the large swollen lymph glands in my arm pits. I have the numbness, the stiff neck, the severe muscle fatigue, the disorientation and loss of balance. I had a blood sed test performed, it came back at 27, well above the high point of 15.
I have an appointment with my personal Doctor this week for some advice on how to proceed with my health. I also will ask him to test me again for Lymes. I was tested in 1999 and did not appear to have it then. I have not had any tick bites in a very long time. Besides, Lymes is not very common in NW Florida, where I work and play.
I'm wondering if I also need an appointment with our personal injury lawyers. Is there other conditions that exhibit these symptoms that I am overlooking? Does my symptoms appear to be Lymes?

Have you visited Parker & Waichman's website? They have a free case evaluation and information concerning Lymerix and Lyme Disease. Go to: http://www.yourlawyer.com. It's a terrific site.

Appreciate the link. I'll have a look this evening.
I have also found good information at the http://www.sheller.com site. One of their folks is involved in a large class action about LYMErix. Thanks again for your thoughts! ![]()

Does anyone have any current information on the Lymerix vacine lawsuits?
I received the vaccine in 2000 and have just been diagnosed with Lyme. I spoke to a lawyer who said I would have had to experience symptoms soon after the vaccine in order to have a case.
I am 100% sure I have never had a tick bite, rash or anything like that. For the past several years I have been experiencing some arthritis, which I thought was old age. (40+)
I believe that the Lyme disease was idle in my spinal fluid and has just recently raised its ugly head. If I am correct there are thousands of others that just don't know they have it.
Has anyone else experienced a similar situation? Please let me know.
Thanks

I had the vaccine a few years ago and have developed similar symptoms that continue to get worse. Chronic hip, back, leg and neck pain (joint and muscle) that does not respond to any type of pain, antiinflamatory or muscle relaxant medication. Numbness in feet and hands. Sweats and chills. Susceptible to infection. Severe localized itching on skin. I'm severely depressed and frustrated. Haven't worked in 3 years. MRI's and CT scans don't show anything that could account for the pain. I'm 39 and for the past 2 years have deteriorated into a cranky old man. No doctors have come up with answers. I'm seeing some specialists now are looking into the Lymerix issue and i'm hoping for a cure.
Has anyone had any treatment that has worked?

My husband & I both got the Lyme vaccines in 1999. Last year, we both started having the same symptoms - extreme fatigue, sore muscles, sore joints. I've also had numbness & tingling in my toes, depression, and sweats & chills that I had attributed to menopause. My body aches so bad that I feel like I have the flu, but it's every day & it never really goes away. Both my husband and I have been tested for Lyme disease a number of times over the past several years, and the results always come back negative. Now we're thinking that it's not the disease that's made us sick, but that it's the vaccine. We've asked our doctor, but she immediately gets very defensive and will only say that the vaccine was pulled from the market because it wasn't selling. (Gee, I wonder why?) I saw a rheumatologist last year, thinking maybe I had fibromyalgia, but all he did was test me again for Lyme, and then tell me that all I needed was more exercise.
I live in Delaware. Does anyone know of a doctor anywhere in this area that has experience treating people with problems stemming from the Lyme vaccine? Does anyone know of any kind of treatment that's been effective for them? I know the class action suit on the Lymerix is over. I don't want to sue anyone - I just want to find a way to stop all this pain.

I have learned alot about Lymes disease and I found out that the doctor is giving you the wrong test to confirm Lymes. There is only one place in the US that can accurately test for Lymes and that is www.bowen.org/NewSite. Please anyone who thinks they might have this awful disease get your doctor to send for this test. The number is 727-937-9077. Your doctor needs to call and register for this test. Thank you and good luck.

I would suggest you go the Medline web site and put in key words relating to your problem. You should be able to find abstracts to articles which can help you:
