Hello all, my name is Jason. I am 27 years old and live in Kansas City.
I was on a program called Slim 4 Life or Slim4Life, and ephedra was the focus. I did not know this until well into the program. Since I started the diet program in late-September 2002 I have had hair loss, heart palpitations, extreme vertigo, and other strangeness. I got scared and stopped taking it cold turkey. This has been worse than taking it!
I stopped taking it a month ago. I have been depressed, short-tempered, completely exhausted, and have also experienced some sexual side effects.
I have been searching all over the web, and I am having trouble finding good info on the withdrawal symptoms of Ephedra. Can anyone please help me?
Thank you all in advance for you replies.

This is many months after your post, but there are no withdrawal symptoms associated with Ephedra that I'm aware of. It is not addictive. That would explain why you've been unable to find anything about it.
Some people shouldn't take it, and no matter what, if you begin experiencing symptoms such as you describe you should stop taking any OTC drugs (talk to your doctor about prescriptions and any new side effects you notice) and take a close look at what you're eating as well.
I'd also call my doctor to report the symptoms.
Hope you made out okay.

Jason,
I feel the same way you do! I want to stop taking it also, but everytime I do I get headaches, fatigue, depressed and mood swings. I think it IS addictive. Let me know if you figure anything out. ![]()

Hi Audiola,
Read the label on what you are taking and see whether it contains other ingredients, then search for information on them as well. Headaches are commonly associated with caffeine withdrawal and many products sold for weight loss contain extra caffeine. You can go to http://www.drugdigest.com and look up any drug, as well as whether any drugs you are taking interact with others. It's a very useful site for all things pharmaceutical and herbal.
Good luck to you.

I too agree with Jason, I have run into a lot of problems taking ephedra.. and even more when I try to quit.
That is why I have set myself up with an addiction councellor, I start seeing in November (soonest I could get in!)
Those who say this drug is not addictive.. well I think you have many people who would disagree!
