My doctor falsely accused me of abusing prescription drugs based on information from another person (unknown). He has now fired me as his patient and has proceeded to contact my insurance carrier to notify them. What can I do to correct his mistake?

Hi Brickz-315.
I am a nurse from Oklahoma that has been retired for about 10 years.
During 1995 through 1997 I went through the same with my doctor. He even went so far as to say and tell other doctors that I was buying street drugs. All false. Not only that, but he had someone pose from the sheriffs office as a medical student. The whole time I went in there I would ask for a drug test and he would not run one.
The problem is trying to prove it. They keep very short notes and the records can be modified to where it never shows up as a issue.
What I did is to seek another doctor and on the forms that you fill out, I posted the problem I had with the other doctor and had the office to make me a copy. I also found someone who ran a drug test for me. Hair samples can be taken and other test that can go back over a period of time.
I also used on pharmacy at all times unless it is an emergency and the one thing our insurance company has done is to keep track of our prescriptions.
Never could find anyone who would bring suit against this doctor.
In Oklahoma you are dealing with the good old boys.
Not giving you any legal advice, but a certified letter, return receipt, to the doctor stating the reasons that you do not feel that you are not abusing drugs may put a end to the problem.
