Meridia Complications

I took Meridia for one month and one week after stopping I experienced sudden cardiac death.  My heart stopped several times and I had to be resuscitated with paddles.  Has anyone had any similar experience or know anyone who has?  My doctors all say this is not related to Meridia but why would a healthy young woman experience sudden death when the only thing different was the fact that I was taking Meridia?

Re: Meridia Complications

Wow, that's real scary.  Did you have a heart attack or a stroke?  I think that is what Meridia is linked to.  I also heard that it could cause seizures.  It seems that the doctors are skiddish in saying whether a person's heart condition is caused or exacerbated by writing prescriptions for diet drugs.  I hope you are doing much better now.  Did this leave you with a disability?

Re: Meridia Complications

Technically I didn't have a heart attack or a stroke.  My heart simply stopped - although multiple times.  I am very fortunate in that I was left with no disability and am as active and healthy as I was before.  I just have to believe that all of this was caused by the Meridia.  Prior to taking the Meridia I had no cardiac problems what so ever!!

Re: Meridia Complications

What a terrible thing to happen to you!  The doctors have no reason or explanation as to why your heart could just stop like that, more than one time?  I think you should look into this further because something does not sound right.  I think Mr. Parker is reviewing Meridia cases now.  Wishing you all the best.
