How would you prove purchasing an over the counter drug?

Its obvious that there will be,  if not already a classaction against the makers of diet supplements. But, it seems it will be impossible to prove that you took it unless, it was always charged or something. Anyone have any thoughts on this?

Re: How would you prove purchasing an over the counter drug?

I don't know if this will apply to this situation or not but my mom took phen-fen and has filed a lawsuit due to value problems. The doctor who presecribed it has since passed away but for most of the time she was on it he gave it to her out of his office in little envelopes. Toward the end she had a prescription but she wasnt able to remember where she got the prescription filled. The attorneys were able to have her sign some type of legal  document indicating the number of months she took it and who gave it to her which will suffice as proof of having taken it even tho she doesnt have the actualy pharmacy information. I guess they have ways around this when necessary. I imagine if a person ends up with one of the drug related diseases its a pretty good indicator that they probably arent lying about having taken the drug.

Did you happen to save any of your bottles?  There is a "UB" Code (I think that's what they call it) on the bottle someplace that should give them a general idea of when it was purchased or, at the least, when it was put on the shelf.  I'm sure there's someone else on the board who can answer this question more accurately for you.  GOOD LUCK!

Well first off dietary supplements containing ephedrine will no longer be over the counter. Second there are other things used for medical purposes that will be sold over the counter still. I'm not positive about this next statement but, I am sure ephedrine (or something very close to it, pseudophedrine) is still being sold over the counter in decongestants. So really there is no way to find out if you actually took the ephedrine or not because you could easily lie and say that it was something still legal. That and it will be like any illegal drug, eventually, I think. If you get caught with it you will get in "trouble" legally. I really think that it will eventually come to that. Some people feel that ephedrine is addicting and although I have never honestly taken it, I do know several people who have and yes I think it will be hard for them to stop. Watching them I feel that it will be difficult for them to get on with their lives without this. Those are the type of people that are gonna find a way to get this and to get it to other people. You know things being illegal and or having an age restriction on them are often the things people want to do because they can't or aren't supposed to. I think that this is gonna eventually turn into something else that we are fighting and trying to stop in our country all because of some people who made bad decisions or abused ephedrine. You now this may sound bad, but how many people take their lives each year by committing suicide? Do we take knives, pills, guns, ropes, or anything else that may be used to assist them in that? No. I feel that we have more important and threatening issues to be addressing. And it really doesn't make sense to me that the FDA or government or whatever is banning this when we can't control already addicting pills or whatever.
