Indeed - but I think it's essential to take all of these events into perspective. After all, there are a lot of *other* dangerous products (both pharmaceutical, herbal and other) that are equally - or far more - dangerous as ephedra.
Right now, the media hype/focus is on ephedra. Let's not lose sight of the other issues in life.

It's a medical fact that not everyone can tolerate the same medications, so why do we let such a few number on incidents dictate to the rest of us what we can and cannot buy over the counter.
Again my wife nearly died from eating clan chowder, do we ban clam chowder.
How many people die every year in car accidents, ban cars?
How many people die from tobacco or alcohol related problems every year. Yeah, lets try to ban those.
I personnally have taken as much as 6 times the recommended dose of a ma huang supplement for a year and have nver had a problem.
We need to stop this crap before its to late! :x

Indeed, while ephedra and/or ephedrine may be dangerous in various forms and ways, this proposed ban appears to be almost kneejerk in some sense.
Happy New Year!
