Bextra Bleeding

I took Celebrex for years and a year ago my doc switched me to Bextra.
It seemed I was getting immune to Celebrex. I took it for chronic back pain.
Well, I wound up in the ER suddenly with abdominal bleeding from a duodonal ulcer. I lost two thirds of my blood into my small intestines.
They gave me six units of blood to bring me back over the next five days in the hospital. I would have died had I not got to the ER that day.
The Docs said it was the non inflamitories such as Celebrex and then Bextra that were the primary cause.
I have no permanent damage. The ulcer is healing after it was caterized. I feel fine now except for the medical bills that my insurance company did not fully cover.
Is there anyone out there that had even a close experience as mine?
Class Action ???
Bob
PS- Beware of the Non Sterodal Anti Inflamitory Meds. Some nurses at the hospital were on them and  they have thier doubts about it.  :-?

Re: Bextra Bleeding

My Doctor gave me Bextra samples when he ran out of Celebrex and said they were `all the same'...not so for me, I fainted with  one 20mg Bextra and fell across a hot steam pipe in my bathroom. No more Bextra for me.

Re: Bextra Bleeding

My 81 years old husband was prescribed BEXTRA on 1 October 2003 and immediately experienced a severe rash on his arms. He continued taking the drug until 8 october in the belief the rash was not related to the drug, however, he also experienced internal bleeding of increasing severity during that period.  A Dr. Office visit confirmed the two symptoms were related directly to BEXTRA and the drug was discontinued.
