Hi- I live in philadelphia. PA and was riding home one evening when I was hit by a Jeep. I was at a stopped light with other cars and the light turned green. I looked, and there were no cars coming, so I proceeded to head straight across the intersection. (The intersection is as follows: three lanes..the right two lanes for right hand turns, and the single left lane to go staright). When I got about 2/3 of the way across the intersection, this Jeep turned from what seemed like out of nowhere and BAM! I wind up with two pelvic fractures, nerve damage...about 6-8months recovery time and rehab therapy-
The police report says there has been no fault. WHAT DOES THIS MEAN? It means...The person who hit me is not required to have his insurance cover my medical bills, as he is not proven guilty. I am a college student, 20 years old, and I can barely afford my rent, let alone thousands of dollars in Dr's bills. I have no car insurance, as I have no need for a car in philadelphia. You can imagine my frustration, I'm sure.
My question is, there was a witness to the accident who was not there when the police made the report because she was at the hospital, holding my belongings. She believes he made an illegal turn from that left lane ...would a statement from her to the Driver's insurance company, change the situation so that the bills would stop piling up? If not, what would need to be done?
Any advice would help. Sorry this is so complicated.
