Meridia and Water Retention

Hi - I've been on Meridia for one week now - 15mg per day.  And I've noticed that I've been retaining fluids something awful.  My legs have swollen - I have pitting edema, and my abdomen has also swollen.  Pants I wore two weeks ago no longer fit - they are too tight.  I thought this med was supposed to help you lose weight.  Not me, I've been bloating up.  Yesterday - Sunday - I had serious gas pains and a bunch of BM's.  I was really weak and nauseous, with a strange taste in my mouth.  That lasted all day Saturday and all day Sunday.  Today it's better.

I guess I'd better to call my Dr tomorrow and ask him about this - I want to lose weight, not gain it!

Note: I'm a 48 year old male - 5'7", 205#.  In the mid-nineties I took Phen-Fen for two months and I tell you - that drug combo was a miracle for me.  No problems with my heart.  I guess because I only took it for 2 months. I lost 65 lbs total in three months - got down to 145 - and stayed there for a couple of years - until I started taking antibiotics and anti-inflammatories again.  Then my weight creeped up - once on Celebrex it just kept increasing.    I was hoping Meridia would be a wonder drug for me, but that's not been the case.

Also -I'm on a host of other meds - HCTZ, Altace, Toprol, Celebrex, Androgel, Duragesic, Entex LA, Vitamin D, Allopurinol, Rhinocort and oxycodone as needed.  Allopurinol, I've been on for 4 weeks now.
