my grandmothers new husband of twelve days tried to kill my husband
We all share a large house and split bills
This man came in trying to boss me around like I was a child and I told him to stop. Basically he went nuts and attacked my unsuspecting husband
It wasn't a fracas or a domestic violence thing.. this man was like a three hundred lb bear trapping him between the kitchen sink which he sat him in and a window and was strangling him with no letting up on it. mY husband has some bruised and possibly fractured ribs among other injuries
Tell me.. can he press charges for attempted murder instead of the watered down domestic abuse thing since the perp just moved in?
Also.. what is the going rate for emotional distress and so on.
because we are taking him for everything he has..
He tricked my grandmother for a yr straight.. carefully constructing an image he didn't have. He has a schizophrenic thirty something daughter and now we think we have an idea why she is so fractured.
Thanks for your opinions.

You MAY want to notify authorities, i don't think any of us can, or should give any kind of opinion on what you should do, you really need an expert..
We are just a bunch of sick people trying to hang on!! ![]()

You should definitely report this incident to the police. Also, you should do this without telling your grandmother's husband -- or your grandmother, since it was your husband who was attacked. I would also suggest you ask the police what you can do to get the marriage annuled and to get that man out of your grandmother's house as soon as possible. After all, what might he do to HER, if she makes him mad? The first step is to go to the police and tell them exactly what happened -- making sure you tell them the exact truth -- and ask them what they can do immediately and ask them to investigate this man's past, etc. Definitely you should press charges against this man, because if you don't, he will think he got away with it and who knows what else he may do in the future.

You should contact the police right away. You could also get a restraining order against him. It would be considered a domestic issue, it would have to be up to the judge/states attorney to upgrade it to a felony domestic or attempted murder. Also attempted murder would be if he had stated he was going to kill him, or something along those lines. I work in a jail so I dont know what state you live in but it depends on their laws too. They will also take his criminal history in consideration during bond hearing and the case itself to determine how the outcome will be. Good luck!!!
