Zyprexa and its effects

I just joined this site.  My son Joey(autistic) was taking Zyprexa.  A week before the 20th of March I noticed he was having diabetic symptoms.  I know because I was recently diagnosed diabetic.  I was worried so I decided to take him to his regular doctor on Wednesday. I told the doctor he was not eating well and he seemed thirsty all the time and he had problems with his stomach. His glucose level was 134(High but not extremely high).
Doctor sent us to a Lab to get blood-work done.  I took him in Friday morning to get blood-work done because he had to fast the night before.
That same Friday night he became incoherent and walking around as if he had been drinking.  I called the doctor and he told me to take him to the hospital.  My son went into the hospital at 10:00p.m. Friday night.  His blood glucose level was over 1350.  They got it down to about 360.  He went into intensive care where it shot back up to over 600.  My son passed away Saturday morning at 8:30a.m, March 20, 2004.
The medical examiner had to do an autopsy and she said he died of acute pancreatitis caused by acute diabetic ketoacidosis.(Examiner also asked me if my son drank because his liver was like that of an alcoholic.  My son rarely if ever drank.)
Previous to this my son had always seemed healthy.
I read about a very similar case in Ohio where a lady lost her husband under very similar circumstances.
If my husband and I had had any inkling about the side effects of Zyprexa we would have insisted my son be taken off the drug.
Maybe he could have been helped early enough.[/b]
