Greetings,
I was injured on the job in 1997, misdiagnosed for several months, and given the run around forever. To the point that I was miserable, in pain and feeling totally ignored by the medical field.
when the orthopedic surgeon diagnosed sternoclavicular subluxation as
my problem, it had already caused bursitis, and RDS, and chronic pain with limited mobility of my dominant arm.
I was forced into disability retirement, and sent to a Pain management doctor, who immediately placed me on lioresal and neurontin for my problem, with hydrocodone, I was informed that was the best therapy there was for my problem.
Within a few months I was at 2400mg a day divided in 3 doses, and just as wacky brained as I could be. When I complained to the doctor, she upped the dosage and informed me it would take a while to get used to it. I was still in pain, and began having thoughts of suicide as a means to stop the pain and stop all of my confusion.
:-?
Long story short, (too late I know) I tried to kill myself in march of 2000 while on 3600mg per day, and 150 mg amyltryptoline hs, lioresal, hydrocodone.
I was intubated for a week, and almost succeeded at my attempt, the doctor who saw me in the attempt rearranged my meds and weaned me off the neurontin very quickly.
Luckily I survived, but I swear I would never have touched that stuff if I had known what I know now, tho I am relieved to know that the medicine played a part in what I did.
