Accutane, intended indicated for the treatment of severe, recalcitrant, nodular acne, has been linked with several serious side effects, including serious birth defects and suicide. Accutane, or Isotretinoin, is a retinoid that is related to retinoic acid and retinol, or Vitamin A. Isotretinoin inhibits sebaceous gland function and keratinization. Accutane treatment for 15 to 20 weeks results in complete and prolonged remission of acne is most patients. Sometimes, a second course of treatment is needed.

In addition to birth defects and suicide, Parker Waichman Alonso Mark LLP is investigating Accutane cases involving inflammatory bowel disease, crohn’s disease, colitis, loss of vision, loss of hearing and growth disc problems. If you or a loved one has been injured by Accuntane please complete the case inquiry form on the right side of this page for a free evaluation.

post accutane birth defects

Has anyone had a child after taking accutane and had them have defects or abnormalities?  My first son was born 10 years after taking it and was completely missing his pinky  and that portion of his hand.  My second son was born 13 years after the drug and has a congenital heart defect.

Just wondering why this happened and would like to know if you had the same experience.

Re: post accutane birth defects

Did your doctor say this was due to accutane?

I took accutane for 6 months.  I have been off the drug for about 5 years now.
