Neurontin, which is known generically as Gabapentin, may be linked to suicide and suicide attempts. Neurontin is prescribed for epilepsy but has been prescribed for numerous off label uses. Neurontin was approved for sale in the mid-1990s as a treatment for epileptic seizures. However, it is believed that approximately 80 percent of all Neurontin prescriptions were filled for unapproved medical conditions.

If you or a loved one was injured by Neurontin, please complete the free case inquiry form on the right side of this page.

Neurontin Ruined My Life

I started taking Neurontin in small doses for diabetic neuropathy.  After a very short time I started having intense itching/burning all over, especially in the trunk area.  I called the pharmacist and physician and they said to discontinue the drug.  In the mean time, I was referred to a neurologist for evaluation of the neuropathy.  He said this was not a side effect of Neurontin and increased my dose to 900mg. daily.  Within 24 hours the burning pain became excruciating.  I discontinued taking the Neurontin, but the side effects didn't go away.  This is listed as a side effect of neurontin as Parasthesia and Dysesthesia.  What they don't tell you is that it is permanent.

Since that time life is miserable.  The only thing that keeps me functioning is high doses of narcotics to relieve the pain.  It is so bad at times I can't stand to have anything or anyone touch me.  It is referred to as CPS or Chronic Pain Syndrome.

Is there anyone else who has had similar symptoms?  Are the lawsuits covering all side effects for off-label prescribing, or just suicide?
