Bextra & Bells Palsy??

I started on Bextra May/02 for my knee. Undergoing a lot of problems with my left knee I also had injections to my knee. I was a smoker and in November of that year I thought  my chest was going to explode, I was having heart palpitations so I quit smoking. I thought it was the steroids, but now I wonder if it was the Bextra. January 03 I was rushed into the emergency room, my left side of my body was paralyzed. My blood pressure was 185 over 110 (I believe) and the medical staff rush me back for an EKG & brain scan, they thought I was having a stroke. The ER Dr came into my room & said he had good news & bad news, good news it wasn't a stroke, bad news it was Bells Palsy, which I still have the paralysis on the left side of my face. My face looks swollen my eyelids are puffy, my lips are always dry & cracked. Also my palms of my hands are extremely dry, they crack & split since taking Bextra. I went to a dermatologist for it unknowingly why I all of a sudden am having skin problems, the Dr said it was a type of chemical burn.  My hands are ugly to look at and very painful. I stopped taking Bextra earlier this year, but none of the problems have cleared up......any help?

Re: Bextra & Bells Palsy??

Hi.  Same with me.   sad  They couldn't figure out a diagnosis for this "mysterious' skin/swelling ailment so they called it questioningly bell's palsy.  And, I also have "the sticky eye" syndrone to go with it.  I had no idea where it all stemmed from...UNTIL.. I just happened to catch the item news about Bextra.

I am going to contact an attorney this coming week as all my problems are documented with eye doctors/surgeons and ER hospital records on the skin/eye adverse effects.  It all came about right after taking Bextra back in 02.  You're the only other one I've come across like me with the ????bell's palsy???? part.  This pisses me off since my problems will be lifelong.  Surgery didn't help the "sticky eye".  They say that is permanent.  So, guess attorney here I come.   :-?

Re: Bextra & Bells Palsy??

Have an attorney now so can't discuss all details, at present, as my case is of permanent injury.  I chose an attorney whose firm is only taking the more serious cases and not going the class action route...Mine are eye problems, skin, etc. re' bextra usage.  I'm also a middle aged person versus elderly which nulls out, most if not all other, factors other than the bextra plus the timeline of onset is on target for confirmation.

It's my understanding that the law firms concentrating on the more severe/permanent injuries really do scrutinize clients...at least mine does.  That made me feel much more secure and comfortable.

I wish everyone the very best!  Will be checking here from time to time as things progress and will be glad to contribute what my attorney allows me to.
