i was in an accident in 09/04. i was in a left turn lane behind a chevy suburban and i was in my little hyundai tiburon. the suburban must have gotten tired of waiting for the light to turn green so he backed up to get in the lane to the right. while backing up he apparently didnt see me and backed up on the hood of my car. the hood of may car is badly bent and the front bumper is cracked. i was not injured, but i did make the mistake of not getting the other driver's info. the other driver had a cell phone and called the police. after about a 1/2 hour a sherriff's dept deputy shows up to take down our info. i thought it was kind of strange that a sherriff's deputy showed up and later found out that he is based out of central phoenix and we were about 25 miles from there. it has been about 4 months now and the deputy has been avoiding all my calls and i have found that he has not even turned in the report and until he does so i have no chance of getting the other driver's info. i have heard that the deputy does not have to file a report. is this true?? is there any chance of me getting the other driver's info and being able to get my car fixed?? i could use any tips. this is my first accident and i feel like the driver and the deputy knew that and are taking advantage of that. honestly it seems like the deputy and the driver are friends.

Wow, how unfortunate. I was in a similar situation involving a car backing up at the traffic lights. I was lucky that everyone was pretty cordial, but it got me thinking that if this happened again or any accident for that matter, I want to be sure I'm in the clear. There's a great product out there, (www.eyewitnesscamera.com), that sits on your dash and records video footage as you drive. If you get into an accident, you have all the evidence you need.
I have one and it works for me..
