Hi i am new here and i wondered if anyone has any experience with the anti cholesesterol drug crestor. my partner has been on 10mg of this drug for about 4 months and constantly feels flulike and no enery.
i have read there are problems at the higher dose but nothing about 10mg.

My father-in-law took Crestor at the lowest dosage kevel, 1 mg, for over a year. His bloodwork all along showed no signs of liver damage. His dosage was increased to 20 mg and within 3 weeks, he was taken off of it because he now had liver damage. Four months later he was dead. Muscle pain and weakness are symptoms of Rhabdomyolsis and your partner should be very, very careful. My father-in-law's autopsy concluded that the Crestor had caused severe liver and kidney damage.
Best of Luck to you...
I meant to say that he was on the lowest level of 10 MG.... he did start to have a terrible time with weakness and lethargy, muscle pain, etc...at the 10 mg level as well.

jan382 i took the crestor for only six nights and yes it was only the 10mg. tabs and i stoped taking them when i called my dr. about three or four times and he did not return my call so i called my pharmacy and the pharmiest told me to stop taking them unless i wanted to die, that i didn't want to do. now let me tell you what happened to me only after six nights yes my dr. put me on them at night bedtime because of the bad side effects that these drugs can have. after the fourth night and the next morning when i got out of bed i and i stood up both of my calf muscles cramped up so bad that i fell into my bedroom wall, i crawled out to my sofa stilled cramped up crying no help i was home alone and though i was going to die, at that time i felt that i wanted to die. this happened the last week in october and to thi day i still have the cramping and a great deal of muscle weekness. since my fall i though that i had just bruised my shoulder perty good but the pain wasn't getting any better alot worse the more i used my left arm the worse it got. the first week in dec. i had an appointment with my rheumotoligst and he ask me what i had done to my shoulder i told him and after checking it out he gave me a shot of something to try to help with the pain and the stiffness but it didn''t work. it still wasn't getting any better, it is still guite painful just to pull my bed covers let alone pick anything up with my left arm. i finally had enough pain so my family dr. finally ordered a x-ray that showed nothing and the mri showed a torn tendon {quite painful and i can take alot of pain} i didn't need any more dr. bills i have enough of them and i knew that to have this checked out was going to costly there for i suffered with the pain until i couldn't take it any more. as of today i can't set on my floor because of the cramping and the wewkness in my legs and arms. it is slso hard to get my laundry done because i have alot of steps to go up and down, not to mention to get a bath i have alot of steps and getting back out of the tub is almost impossibl with out strength in my legs and arms. i have fibromylgia and that pain isn't very nice but at least i didn't have cramps in my muscles before and i could do alot of the things that i needed to do it just took alot of time. this is no kind of life for i use to do the yard and clean house, laundry ect. and now it is really hard and i just want to give up. i don't want to take another drug anymore but to live without pain meds i would not be able to think straight and there for the pain would win. as far as your loved one taking crestor i would check into fish oil or go to a healthfood store and they can help you find something better and healither for him. i am doing four capsuls of fish oil a day that is suppose to help lower the bad cholesterol and i also am going to try guggul. if you look up the word triglycerides and you should find out some natural cures i hope but always check with your dr. like i did. i will never be able to take any statin drugs again. good luck. god bless {i wish drug compaines would think and maybe care just a little more about people and not on so much money to put in there pockets. you can e-mail me at rosevickery@yahoo.com
