Hi. My grandmother died last November (2004) from Myocardial infarct, Congestive heart failure, acute pulmonary edema and hypertension arterial. Before that, she suffered two strokes in 2002. All of this while she was on Vioxx. She had been taking the pill approximately since 2000. I think there's a big chance that Vioxx had something to do with her death. I have to make clear that she suffered from diabetes and that she had an open heart surgery due to a heart attack back in 1986. But after her first attack in 1986 she was doing really good until she started taking Vioxx. After that she had the two strokes in 2002 and two more in 2004 when she died. I have heard that Vioxx would precipitate the chances of heart attacks and other heart problems. Is this true? Do we have a case here? Please, somebody help me on this. Thanks.

The most common side effects of Voixx are diarrhea, nausea, and heartburn. However, many patients may be unaware that the risk for Vioxx side effects such as heart attacks are nearly four times greater than those of traditional pain killers. These side effects of vioxx, including heart attacks, were discussed in a report recently released by a study. In this study, the Vioxx side effects were compared to those of patients treated with standard nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs. The results found out that the Vioxx side effects relating to heart attacks were far more common in users of Vioxx in comparison to people using other meds.
