Would appreciate hearing from anyone who took this drug for either Parkinson's or Restless Leg Syndrome, and subsequently suffered from obsessive/compulsive gambling or other unhealthy behavior. I am a plaintiff in a lawsuit against Pfizer and Boehringer Ingelheim, the drug's makers.

DID YOU USE A DRUG PERMAX AT SAME TIME?

I have taken Mirapex at bedtime for the last five years. I started at .125 mg, and worked up to 3.0 mg, taken all at once. About a year ago, I began to smoke cigarettes after being off them for over twenty years. Worse than that, I began to suddenly gamble uncontrollably. I didn't recognize myself, and I couldn't figure out how a smart, professional woman could be so out of control. I have gone bankrupt, had my car repossessed, am in financial ruin at this time, but the worst thing of all is that I lost the respect of my friends and family, and my self-respect, too.
I saw the warning on pathological gambling on the Mirapex label, quite by accident. I am weaning off the Mirapex now, and although I'm worried about my restless legs returning, anything has to be better than the total devastation of my life due to this drug's side effects. I worry so much about all the people out there in the same boat as me, unable to stop compulsive behaviors, blaming themselves, and having not idea why this is happening. Something needs to be done to save these lives before they all end up in as bad of a position as mine.

I began taking Mirapex for Parkinson's (tremor) in Sept., 05. Soon thereafter, I began compulsive eating (at night); I have never done this before in my life (I am a 58-yr-old female) and gained 25 lbs within 6 weeks. Prior to this, I had been very active (walking 15 -20 miles per week; water aerobics 3 X wk; strength trng.) and now (9 months later), I am 30 lbs. heavier, inactive, and no energy. I continue to take the mirapex because of my tremor and because I have been told it slows the progress of the PD. Anyone else having this problem?

I have been taking Requip for RLS starting with a small dose several times a day to 2mg 6 times a day starting approx dec, 2004. since then i would get up in the middle of the night, or just get the 'thought' to go and head right to the casino. i've gotten myself into quite a large debt, mistrust from my family and friends (that i've told), i'm so embarrassed. I recently did some research on the internet and found that requip as well as miraprex have caused compulsive gambling. does anyone know if there is a class action suit and give anyone give me any information about any recourse i may have. thanks

I would like to know of any claim suits for Mirapex forming? I took Mirapex for a year. I began spending money. I was already on thin ice because I helped my son buy a house that I got back. I couldn't control it even then, very well as in the past.
I knew I shouldn't and really couldn't. The computer at home is too easy to go online and buy. Another culprit was EBay. I spent $4000 on EBay in 3 months.
I lost my savings, took out loans, and maxed my credit cards.
Lawyers will not take it because I didn't lose enough. One lawyer told me claim suits don't pay very well. The lawyer fee is off the top, then one has to share what is left with others. I figured a little is better than nothing.
Anyone have any suggestions?
