Vicodin and hearing loss

I have been on a light dose of Vicodin since February only taking 1 or two pills per day of the regular strength. I have noticed a persistent ringing in the ear and a hearing loss. I started to look up vicodin on the internet to see if anyone else had the same thing and was amazed to find this web site.

Is this permanent? I am scared.

Re: Vicodin and hearing loss

I also took vicodin for 3-4 months...started on 1 pill a day and then sometimes two. I got really bad ringing noises in both ears. I also had an ear infection at the time so maybe this caused the ringing. The ringing continues after more than 3 years later. I went to a hearing aid center and had a quick hearing test done and was told that my hearing seems ok. I did have some accupunture treatments done and believe it helped save my hearing.
I did go to a specialist at the VA to have earwax removed and asked him if the vicoden caused ringing in my ears and he said no. Makes you wonder about these doctors, don't they read the medical magazines and keep themselves up to date?
