lexapro legal issues

Someone I know who is a professional with doctorate degree was placed on lexapro for depression (after being on cymbalta and being affected by the sleepy side effect).  Although he did not attempt or commit suicide, he very much had suicidal thoughts.  He eventually checked himself in to a psychiatric hospital.  His home life was to the point where his wife begged him to do something for "anger management."  He could not function in his business and pretty much cowered in his office on a daily basis.  His business suffered and eventually failed a few months after he checked in to the hospital -- where he only stayed 3 days.  His income went from around $100,000 in 2003 to about $9,000 in 2005 because he could barely function during the day.  Some days he would lay in bed just crying, unable to move or go to work.

My question is, from a legal standpoint, does he have grounds for a lawsuit?

Thank you.
