Whirlpool Electric Dryer caught on fire w/towels & killed mom

Has anyone out their heard of a Whirlpool Electric Dryer catch fire while drying towels?  When my mom opened the dryer door, it blew up in her face and killed her.  Its so odd to me and my family can't seem to find any other cases.  The dryer was 2 years old.  Please let me know if you have heard of this.  This has destroyed our family.
