Accutane, intended indicated for the treatment of severe, recalcitrant, nodular acne, has been linked with several serious side effects, including serious birth defects and suicide. Accutane, or Isotretinoin, is a retinoid that is related to retinoic acid and retinol, or Vitamin A. Isotretinoin inhibits sebaceous gland function and keratinization. Accutane treatment for 15 to 20 weeks results in complete and prolonged remission of acne is most patients. Sometimes, a second course of treatment is needed.

In addition to birth defects and suicide, Parker Waichman Alonso Mark LLP is investigating Accutane cases involving inflammatory bowel disease, crohn’s disease, colitis, loss of vision, loss of hearing and growth disc problems. If you or a loved one has been injured by Accuntane please complete the case inquiry form on the right side of this page for a free evaluation.

long term immune system damage?

i am twenty three now and am just beginning to see the long term side effects of accutane. when i origionally took it (around the age of fourteen) i had the normal effect of my acne clearing up and a small amount of dry skin.. (chaped lipps). the abnormal effects i experienced on the other hand far outweighed the acne treatment. it was around the end of the first week i took acutane that my acne had begun to clear up and in exchange for this i started developing what i can only understand now to be a horrible allergic reaction on my arms where beforehand i had sometimes experienced a very small amout of eczema (cream would make the eczema go away within the day and i would not see it again for at least a month), but now the insides of my elbows broke out into a bleeding, pussing, quarter inch thick mound of scabs  that lasted a month well after i stopped the accutane treatment (immediatly). ever since this has happened the very small amount of eczema i once experienced has gotten worse and worse to the point now that it has spread accross my arms, legs, face, and neck, and no amount of topical cream can make it go away. (i've tried nearly every kind) nowadays (for most of the past year) i regularly visit the ER to get checked out for an "allergic reaction," or thats what there calling it. without the aid of prednazone i regularly wake up with the same dry crusty pussy scabs developing accross my body, and my skin falling off. i've felt my body degenerating day after day from this and i know without heavy steroid treatment that my body cannot support itself. i fear i am slowly losing my immune syatem to whatever this was that the accutane had done to my body and was intrested to see if anyone had experienced anything similar. i am currently talking to my physician to get my immune system tested and see if any link can be obtained between the drug and the long-term effects i have suffered from it. ive heard many bad things about this drug that was so rushed thru the FdA and into the veins of our children on the promise of clear skin and happyness only to end in horrible depression, severe digestive, and long-term immune system disease. please if you have anything of any intrest to this contact me via the site or e-mail. and dont let your loved ones take this drug.
