I've lost 28 lbs while taking Meridia. Lately, though, I have been experiencing heart palpitations and my blood pressure has gone up (instead of down like I though it would if I lost weight). Could the Meridia being causing this? I still have a lot of weight to lose, but am worried especially about the heart palpitations.

You should be asking your doctor who prescribed you the medication this, not a forum of people you don't know and can't trust. Read the package warnings and talk to your doctor.

We are presently looking a Meridia diet drug claims. Please feel free to call us or complete one of the new case intake forms to see if you have a viable cause of action. Meridia is linked to heart problems such as high blood pressure, tachycardia, arrythmia, seizures, stroke and heart attack, although not completely proven yet - plus Meridia is still on the market in the United States.

I took meridia for about 3 months and my heart and health has never been the same. I was 23 at the time and I am now 25.I have had heart problems ever since taking the med.I have heart palpitations, an accelerated heart rate, and my heart literally stops sometimes. I lost about 60 pounds but since I stopped taking the drug I gained back 80! And I was not overeating. I also developed panic and anxiety attacks. I was put on heart med but I am unable to take it. If anyone has had any similiar experiences I would love to know.

I have been on Meridia for over 1 yr. now.... with no side effects, other than thirst and weightloss ( 8) which is what is supposed to happen)
I have lost 65 lbs. My diabetes is better than it ever has been.... my blood pressure is now excellent, instead of high.
I feel wonderful, and am so much healthier from having lost all this weight.
I was not healthy before. I still have more to lose, and will continue on this Medication as long as my Doctor agree's!!!

I am a firm believer (now that I have learned my lesson) that diet drugs and over the counter products don't do the trick. It's old fashioned diet and exercise. Please don't lull yourself into believing that Meridia is not going to harm you, especially if you've been on it for a year. Just an opinion - it's like just believing that a cigarette now and then won't do you any harm either. ![]()
