possible liver involvement

been on 15mg of zyprexa for 1 1/2 years... gained over 50 pounds within 8 months even though i've been following strict atkins diet of meat, cheese, eggs...  even if i ate tiny bit of veggies or salad i gained weight or even if i didn't eat them i still gained weight... so no matter what my liver or pancreas processed it as a sugar... ( I guess) ... I now have elevated liver enzymes, difuse fat deposits in CAT scan in the liver and and passing bilirubin through my urine and am going to a gastro doc on monday for further investigation.... i hope that zyprexa hasen't ruined my liver .... my mom told me last week that she heard on the news how people have died on zyprexa and that night i looked it up online and sure enough i was amazed and freaked out and stopped it cold turkey and am going through major withdrawls and have constant migraines, brain fog and muscle weakness... i noticed since i quit taking it i'm scared to death of driving now and i'm only 34

I will come back and let you know for sure what the gastro doc says... i hope i'm just worried for nothing....

Re: possible liver involvement

How long were you on zyprexa, and during that time, were you getting blood levels tested regularly?

Re: possible liver involvement

I saw your post and wanted to reply. I also have been on 15 mg of zyprexa for a couple years. I also have diabetis. I have gained a pile of weight and my blood sugars are out of control and have been for a long while. I also have had a sonagram done on my liver and they said it is like someone who has drank for a while which I have not. I am going to ask my doctor about quiting zyprexa. I am alittle worried about the side effects of stoping the med. How has your symptoms been?

Re: possible liver involvement

I took Zyprexa as a presciption in 1999.

I have since developed an abnormal liver but never determined what caused it until today when I did a search for Zyprexa side effects, just to see.
I was 38 in 2000 and felt I was too young to be experiencing liver problems due to casual consumption of a few beers after work.
I gained 80lbs since taking Zyprexa and I'm now interested in finding info on a class action lawsuit against Eli Lilly & Co.
